this is a new slang term among urban teenagers in california

it means to become overly upset over a small matter

"hey gimme my burrito back!!!"
"wait, i just want a bite"
"hey GIVE IT BACK"
"mmmmfff"
"DUDE YOU F*CKING TOOK HALF MY BURRITO"
"yo, don't get butt hurt, dude"

should the use of term "butt hurt" by teenagers be banned???

No, because it is very funny and I am neither a parent nor a teacher, so I don't have to put up with their inane shit.

crackaphone bro, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:04 (eighteen years ago)

Dude, I said a bite not the whole thing.

nickalicious, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

BANNED

David R., Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

i take it the meaning is "upset and complaining as if one had been raped?"

gff, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

that may be reading too much into it.

kenan, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

kenan, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

i am a teacher of teenagers in California and i have never heard this but WOULD BUY AGAIN A++++++

remy bean, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

it is not universal slang, it is slang among the set that says "hella" instead of "super" and "ro" instead of "dude"

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

so, the cool kids

kenan, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

remy bean, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

remy bean, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

they don't say "cool", they say "clean"

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

i like "that's how i roll", used in conjunction with "now this is happening"

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

"back in the day" used multiple times in 120 seconds

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

pronounced "row"

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

Is that a racial slur for robots?

nickalicious, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

how else would you pronounce ro!?

what is it short for

gff, Thursday, 10 May 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

this may help us make a more educated vote.

Dear Carols:
I wanted to write to you to tell you, you have been a big inspiration on me. You have taught me to speak my mind and just enjoy life. Freak the people who don't realize what kind of comedy you do. You speak your mind not caring what other people think. I love what you do and no one should get butt hurt on the things you say.
Keep it up Carols love ya (friends).

i've only heard this as 'asshurt'

you don't pronounce the sh as 'shhhh,' before anyone asks

deej, Thursday, 10 May 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

I still say this because my mind is still stuck in buttfarming Grade 8.

Abbott, Thursday, 10 May 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)

bernard snowy, Thursday, 10 May 2007 22:59 (eighteen years ago)

I've not heard this but it appears to be as awful as "hella", which is hella lame

Morley Timmons, Thursday, 10 May 2007 23:57 (eighteen years ago)

are we forgetting ilxor Hairy Asshurt?

sanskrit, Friday, 11 May 2007 00:00 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, I say hella, too, but I know I talk like a big square so it's okay.

Abbott, Friday, 11 May 2007 00:12 (eighteen years ago)

saying "hell of" is funnier

blueski, Friday, 11 May 2007 00:25 (eighteen years ago)

okay, 'hecka' is kinda funny! Also, now I find myself saying "hella" but with air quotes. That's just wicked retarded

Morley Timmons, Friday, 11 May 2007 00:29 (eighteen years ago)

whoa bicoastal slang marriage

jhøshea, Friday, 11 May 2007 00:41 (eighteen years ago)

I say hella constantly and I'm about to move to Baltimore- should I be worried about wrong coast slang mockery? What do people in Baltimore say to convey "extreme" "large numbers" "pronounced" etc.?

Drew Daniel, Friday, 11 May 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)

"wicked" maybe? none of my B'more contacts are online at the moment.

Kerm, Friday, 11 May 2007 01:17 (eighteen years ago)

(That's pronouced "be more" by the way.)

Kerm, Friday, 11 May 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

I get annoyed when people say "hella" but that's mainly because people I know only seemed to start saying it because of South Park. I think "mad" is a more common usage for extreme/large numbers. Or maybe "uber," but that's pretty obnoxious too. I don't think you'll have to worry about being ostracized for saying it out here, though, Drew.

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 May 2007 01:26 (eighteen years ago)

i used to have the trading card of that.

in the Pacific Northwest it's "mass" but without the "quantities of" part. Does this happen anywhere else?

Morley Timmons, Friday, 11 May 2007 03:50 (eighteen years ago)

it hawaii you use the word "Choke" like "mass" in the above context.

g®▲Ðұ, Friday, 11 May 2007 03:54 (eighteen years ago)

i have no idea why.

g®▲Ðұ, Friday, 11 May 2007 03:55 (eighteen years ago)

as in "enough to choke a horse" maybe?

I've been in Portland for the past 3 months but I haven't heard "mass" yet. Everything's getting "yarded" on and everybody's "rallying" here and there and they all have the Duder accent, though.

Kerm, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:05 (eighteen years ago)

i've heard people in california say "mass" but only UC students who play frisbee and wear tevas

moonship journey to baja, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:08 (eighteen years ago)

i've been trying for a minute now to start a "boss" revival, as in

"boss sweater, dude"
"thanks its angora"

moonship journey to baja, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:08 (eighteen years ago)

I've heard "boss" quite a bit lately.

Kerm, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:21 (eighteen years ago)

I like "boss". What is "yarded"?

Morley Timmons, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:24 (eighteen years ago)

g®▲Ðұ, Friday, 11 May 2007 06:02 (eighteen years ago)

"Yard" is a verb meaning to pull on something really hard. Actually, it's odd that such a word would be needed as much as I hear it, but that's all it means. Like if a vehicle was stuck in mud you might have to really yard on it to pull it loose. Or you're moving a heavy piece of furniture up a set of stairs and you really yarded on it to get it up there.

Kerm, Friday, 11 May 2007 06:09 (eighteen years ago)

you definitely can't call someone or something "gay" in school anymore, i'll tell you that

moonship journey to baja, Friday, 11 May 2007 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

there is a microfad right now of kids calling pot "wii"

moonship journey to baja, Friday, 11 May 2007 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

Also, so far out here I've noticed that "butt hurt" is probably only slightly more common than "aw, does your vagina hurt?" and "got some sand in your vagina?" in referring to complaining/whining. I'm more "quitcher bitchin'."
