HEAVEN NEEDED AN INDIE WANK FANTASY FROM 2002

Dom Passantino, Saturday, 12 May 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

otoh, there are a lot of titles on this list I've skipped because I presumed I never had to watch them.

Nice to see Oldboy at 17. Not nice to see Amelie at 2. La Regle Du Jeu and Spirited Away deserve better.

Amelie is repulsive, manipulative, irritating shite.

Just got offed, Saturday, 12 May 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)

I've also come to accept the adulation heaped upon Pan's Labyrinth, even though I regard it as clumsy, derivative, unsatisfying and basically the most overrated film of modern times.

Just got offed, Saturday, 12 May 2007 15:41 (eighteen years ago)

don't be hatin'

Bullet in the Head is a good film. That's not English.

Seven Samurai is still the best mixture of the western and an authentic samurai film

um

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 12 May 2007 20:38 (eighteen years ago)

David Thomson is rarely Off the Money.

I know, right?, Saturday, 12 May 2007 20:46 (eighteen years ago)

yesterday, in the guardian, he advocated incest.

Remember who you're talking to, Quit.

Dom Passantino, Saturday, 12 May 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, I thought that was "just got offed", not "I know right". Apologies.

Dom Passantino, Saturday, 12 May 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

I know, right?, Sunday, 13 May 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

thing was, dude was fucking his mother.

acrobat, Sunday, 13 May 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

haha. no, he said fincher's 'the game' would have been better if michael douglas and sean penn had 'got it on'. they were playing brothers.

That one guy that quit, Sunday, 13 May 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure that's not what he meant... Good example that piece of him being in his normal position on the money.

I know, right?, Sunday, 13 May 2007 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

The new biographical dictionary of film is about my favourite book of all time. The Liv Ullmann entry is classic.

Yeah, that line got me too. What the hell is an "authentic samurai film"? One where they film real samurais?

Tuomas, Monday, 14 May 2007 08:11 (eighteen years ago)

in the biographical dictionary DT complains that SS is "twice as long as a good western should be"!

the orig. biog dic of film is good, but the new edition is shit sandwich srsly.

what did he mean w/r/t 'the game'? i doubt he's actually seen it; he's just trying to do his boring ah-but-if-only-they-did-something-totally-shit-but-'naughty' thing; but seriously what does he mean? recently he's said 'before sunrise' needed to be more like 'strangers on a train', and back in fincher-world he gets weirdly rapey about the original casting of nicole kidman.
