All the strange house clearance places on Brixton Hill. Also, the amazing Oxfam at the top of Streatham Hill. I got half my furniture there.

I'm pretty sure Peckham has good house clearance places! I should ask my mate who lives on the borders of New Cross she found some great deals in your parts.

Sally Army places tend to have fairly decent furniture

I recommend the top of Brick Lane. There are a couple of cavernous places absolutely chock-a-block with furniture. The lovely Emma B and I got a big comfy new-looking Habitat chair for £30 including delivery. There's also a fantastic and bizarro furniture/junk/office shop just next to the Bethnal Green tube stop where we got an industrial stainless steel catering countertop for like £50. (There are also place on Hackney Road that make beautiful bespoke furniture like beds and dressers and chairs and tables; it's kind of amazing.)

Stoke Newington Church St has a few house clearance places, one actually on the street, which sell some interesting stuff.

There's two or three, including a great architectural salvage yard which probably has anything you could ever want including stone lions to guard your front door, on er Loampit Hill going down into Lewisham.
