I think Hitchcock said about love that it "degrades women and derranges men". I feel the same way about sleeping giants: it degrades them and derranges those who have to spent time in the same division as them.

Does this happen in any other sports? It can't in American team sports because there's no relegation, it can't in boxing or golf or snooker because as soon as you start hitting the skids you stop getting work, football is unique in this regard.

We used to always be called a sleeping giant, and then as soon as we started winning stuff we were told we're not a big club. It's a contentious area.
