The tea-leaf readers at Stratfor have come up with an interesting analysis over some recent doings near the Caucasus...

Read it today if you can; after that it goes into the members-only archive.

Informative, indeed. The impression I got from all that is of 'bullies' (US) that refuse to let the "little guy" (Russia) in on the game. Despite Putin's assertion, I'm sure he must be pissed that our military has muscled in.

I wonder why he allowed it? Despite the current war, I don't think he would have been blamed for either: 1) not allowing the US military in at all, or 2) with certain conditions.

As for the Georgian PM Shevardnadze, he's acting like a brat: talking tough, because our forces are there. Eventually, we will find the al-Queda terrorists we are looking for. (I hope.) We pull out of the territory. He'll be screwed because Putin won't want to deal with him, at all. What happens during the next conflict within the country? We have our own problems to dig out of; we probably will end up saying, "Deal with it, yourself."

At that point, toss S a shovel, cause he'll be deep in it.

Thus my earlier encouragement. ;-)
