ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's actually fun really.

ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Open-faced sandwiches could theoretically be considered Picassos. One-dimensional and all that. Sort of. MUST GO HOME.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you going to buy a franchise, Ethan?

In Hammersmith, London, their sandwiches are overly moist for my taste.

Andrew L, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ned i told you not to read it!

ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can you give me a free lunch ethan?

Samantha, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know what to say, Ethan. I mean, "congratulations" springs to mind but is sort of inappropriate as I'm sure you don't view Subway employment as a major personal achievement. But I still offer "congratulations" in the forward-looking "how nice that Ethan will have some money now" sense.

Subway seems pretty top-of-heap for that line of work, especially since there's no real on-site cooking or frying to be done. Plus you get to tell people you're an artist, and make media jokes like "I work mainly in cold meats and chopped vegetables, but I've been known to dabble with the occasional meatball..." etc.

Nitsuh, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

does Jared ever go to your subway?

kevin enas, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I work mainly in cold meats and chopped vegetables, but I've been known to dabble with the occasional meatball...

Is that how Damien Hurst describes himself these days?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aha

chaki, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well thanks nitsuh but sadly i am still working at professionally speaking inc (telemarketing for those who haven't been keeping track of the ethan saga) so it's not a major monetary achievment except i like working at subway a lot more, you're right about not having to cook or fry and plus i get lots of free food and also subway promotional stuff.

ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

...but I've been known to dabble with the occasional meatball...

Better not do that on my sandwich!

nickn, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

those meatballs are some nasty shit. hey if anybody wants to know some subway secrets just ask!!

ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ethan is right....don't believe that good'n'fresh hype that Subway slings....shit is just as grimy over there....I knew two guys that worked graveyard at the downtown shop, here's what they did: phat ropes of coke off the countertop; sliced tomatoes and frisbeed them against the wall to watch them stick; let the lettuce just sit uncovered for ages; ate whole the pressed chicken patties straight out the well with bare hands.....never did ask about the meatballs though....ethan, tell. btw, congrats I guess

Ramosi, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

why does everyone think i'm looking for congrats? it's just an update!

ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

by the way we actually are really clean, the manager is there almost all the time and thankfully she's cool with me eating all the time but not cool with letting shit be nasty which is fine by me because i'm eating it.

ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That's wonderful....but where's the meatball info you promised....it's a sick trend I see catching fire among young people....guys promise meatball secrets to get laid and girls lives are shattered in the wake....fucker

Ramosi, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i just meant the meatballs were nasty in general, as most all meatballs are usually. so here's some inside info: all those 'ovens' you see behind the counter are entirely fake, that bread has already been made and those things are just keeping it from getting crusty with a moisturized hot air thing. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.

ethan, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn. Honestly, if that shit is true, it depresses piss out of me on nearly a Santa level......but maybe that's just your area....I swear I've seen half-cooked bread and cookie dough rising in some of the Subways I've been to....Subway is a hotbed of high school memories for me.....this girl I was crazy about held my hand all the way there one lunch....we stayed there and had such a good time we decided to skip C block.....this girl was an exquisite chewer, my God....she knew I was digging watching her cuz her chest turned pink.....then my friend Allen walks in and plops right down in front of us....he had THE BOTTLE with him.....see, he had just taken up chew (-ing tobacco) and he was a horrible disgusting amateur at it....always toting THE BOTTLE and spitting...no, SLITHERING HIS PINK/BROWN SPIT BY MAKING LIP CONTACT into it.....we laid eyes on that festering jug of badness and the mood was ruined.....eventually I got with the chick but I stopped hanging with Allen for a good month....I need to call that nigga! Seeya ethan

Ramosi, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Crusty bread is good! Give them a talking-to for me.

I'm not congratulating you Ethan because "it's just an update" so, um, yay.

Maria, Friday, 22 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it still gets crusty once we take it out and put it in the bin.

ethan, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I eat Subway every day for lunch. I am so sad. When they friendly people there see me the s automatically start making my always- sandwich: 12" veggie on country wheat, no cheese, all the veggies, honey mustard, spicy mustard, salt and pepper. Mmm... I can't wait for lunch.

adam, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

if you want to make that healthier you shouldn't get country wheat, the shit on it isn't as good for you as it looks and it adds like four grams of fat. a good sandwich though.

ethan, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You're fired.

Subway Boss, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have studied the nutritional information at subway.com (lots of free time at work) and have decided that the grain-intensive yumminess of the country wheat outweighs any nutritional mumbo jumbo especially considering that I am denying myself my ONE TRUE PLEASURE in life (mayo) in the interest of slimness.

adam, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Most Subways (on the west coast, at least) have this unlisted item called the "Vegi Max" which is this awesome tasting veggie patty... far more than any other chained out fast food place offers.

And I don't care what any of you think. Subway is much, much tastier than that piece o' shit dive called Togo's.

Brian MacDonald, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

vegi max is TORE UP. That shit is like $5 for 1000000 of those patties at Costco. its all about quiznos now.

chaki, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Subway=Shite Pret A Manger salt beef and avocado sandwiches, on the other hand=manna from heaven.

And yet Subway is twice as expensive, and leaves you feeling far less healthy.

Matt DC, Saturday, 23 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If you're going to get free food, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better (healthier) fast food place than Subway. Rock on.

Dare, Sunday, 24 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They're not as valuable now that they require a drink purchase, but I think you should take advantage of your connections and send us all lots of sub stamps.

Josh, Sunday, 24 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ditto on the sub stamps.

Subway can't compare to a chain in Austin called Thunderclouds. Guacamole, hummus, fresh mushrooms and sprouts. all this can be had for the lucky River City sandwich eater. yummm.

Samantha, Sunday, 24 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn, I want one now. Be back in three hours.

Samantha, Sunday, 24 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)
