Bleach is a sure-fire odor-killer. It happens to have a few other effects as well.

You might try hydrogen peroxide. It's generally nicer to colors than bleach. Probably a cup: Add it to a full bin of water, then add clothes, etc.

I love the term 'doo doo water', it's delightfully goofy.

I remember one time the toilet overflowed badly in the local convenience store and there was a pool of water over 1/2 the store and this idiot customer was still wading through it to go get himself a drink. and the big hulking graveyard shift employee yelled at him and said "EY mang don't even go near dat, dat's fuckin DOO DOO WATER man!"

This reminds me of one time when I saw a hilariously pimped out econoline van drive past me as this guy adjacent to me, with an unimpressed look, turned to his friend and said "look at that doo-doo ass van."

I have questions about the original premise.

I remember a Febreze commercial many years ago that showed a young female office worker who obviously had not been home the night before... he makeup was smeared, her hair a mess, walk of shame looking. Her coworker said "Oooohhhh girl, look-at-you! you need Febreze" or something like that

I thought it was funny, but I think they immediately pulled it from the air

Well, washing machines usually empty into a drain line, and if that drain backed up I guess the poo water could enter the machine?

Hmmmm, yes, maybe. We did have a line like that, but the water went the other way--laundry water and poo water sprayed into the basement.

Anyway, Gain Flings should get the smell out, but the problem may be in the machine or, for that matter, there may be more poo water coming in. If not, a tub clean cycle should do it.

I do hope he's not still waiting for a solution
