Wot no Western Sahara?

Chris in Belfast, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:15 (eighteen years ago)

Seems like cheating to go for one's own country. I might vote for Cambodia, I dunno.

chap, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:16 (eighteen years ago)

List is not accurate. Sorry for those folks that wanted to vote for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, etc.

This was the listing I could copy and paste the easiest.

Jeff, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:16 (eighteen years ago)

I assume it will probably come down to G8 countries anyway.

Jeff, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

Seems like cheating to go for one's own country.

Not if you live in the best one! And I do, so nyah.

kenan, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:18 (eighteen years ago)

Ooh no inter-UK or indeed Korean distinction either.

Sorry, I abstain.

Chris in Belfast, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:23 (eighteen years ago)

EU should count as one country, then it would win.

kenan, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

Kevin, you're crazy. It's obviously Willie Nelson. Why would you live in George Jones when you can live in Willie Nelson?!?!

kenan, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

I mean, George Jones is too polluted.

kenan, Friday, 8 June 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

BELARUS! Their main export is TRACTORS to neighboring countries.

Abbott, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm...according to the CIA, as of 2006 Belarus was exporting the 67th highest number of goods, right between Slovenia and Luxembourg.

Abbott, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

i thought it was white russains lol

jhøshea, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

My favorite thing in the world as a kid was to look up each county's imports and exports in the encyclopedia. SO many countries, esp. in S. America, have BAUXITE as their main export. And then there's the sorry few who export JUTE.

Abbott, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

lol nerd

jhøshea, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

hey, are you dissing jute? >:(

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

DJIBOUTI has some good exports (only one of which counts as an original export): reexports, hides and skins, coffee (in transit).

Abbott, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:36 (eighteen years ago)

TOKELAU was listed (as of 2002) as making $0 in exports, putting them at the bottom of the list. And yet it lists the following exports: stamps, copra, handicrafts.

Abbott, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

They share copra with SEYCHELLES, which also exports cinnamon trees and fish, making the 168th richest in exports (out of 226).

Abbott, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:39 (eighteen years ago)

One of LAOS' main exports is TIN.

Abbott, Friday, 8 June 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for El Salvador. They produce the most violent criminals, which is something.

Oh, the suspense is killing me!

baaderonixx, Thursday, 14 June 2007 10:16 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

I really should've voted for the UK instead of playing fair - I see the Canadians had no such compunctions.

I was really hoping more people would be into discussing exports. *96 tears*

Abbott, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

Why are the Japanese so obsessed with cannabalism? And is that why you voted for them?

humansuit, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:43 (eighteen years ago)

no i voted for Gundams and shit

marmotwolof, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

and Iron Chef?

Drooone, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:49 (eighteen years ago)

Not even the comic porn? The obsession with comic porn? And kamikazes? No? And ritual suicide? Those are all acceptable answers. Iron chef is only the tip of the iceberg.

Steve Shasta, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:53 (eighteen years ago)

For Niagara Falls alone, Canada deserves to win.

2for25, Friday, 15 June 2007 02:29 (eighteen years ago)

That's true. And for their inability to stay out of fist fights with each other. Hooray for the Canucks.

humansuit, Friday, 15 June 2007 02:31 (eighteen years ago)

So Niagara Falls is the single best thing in the world then?

Drooone, Friday, 15 June 2007 02:32 (eighteen years ago)

I hear this CCTV stat for the UK wheeled out ad nauseum but have no idea what it actually means. It seems to hold about as much truth as the supposed fact that us brits are caught on said cameras 300 times a day. The beeb did something last year (which i can't be arsed to look up - it's day 11 of the school hols and frankly my brain is fried) where they estimated that the original figure (4 million cameras?) might have been out by a million, but are these all government cameras? Are cameras on motorways (which I am quite keen on) included? Are speed cameras included? Are cameras owned by private companies, individuals, shopping centres, universities included? I'm not saying we are not one thoroughly watched society (obviously, in some areas, we are) - I'm just keen to know where peeps are getting their figures from.

Someone please point me to the definitive website answering these questions (and more!) kthanx.
