The wikipedia entry for James Hewitt makes him sound like a nutter. Ex-life guard with a cocaine conviction, so hard up that he exploits his minor celebrity on fringe reality shows yet resourceful enough to occassionally win them. He even allowed himself to be hypnotised by a friggin' TV Company and questioned about his affair with Diana. Not a good idea since he admitted shagging her for several years before Harry was conceived.
Would it not be better if we allowed Harry to continue his true father's legacy: boozing, smoking the weed, grabbing at boobs and scaling new pinacles of upper-class twitness rather than holding him to the mostly fictional standards of that inbred German family he lives with?
― everything, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)
it would be better if people stopped paying attention to royals
― abanana, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)
It's kind of weird that they would accept their lot in life: Tons of money yeah, but no freedom of religion, no choice of career, no choice in partners/spouses (for the direct heirs to the throne anyway), and Harry can't even publicly acknowledge his own father.

Not even THAT much money, I thought? I mean, probably "a lot" to us, but not in the scheme of things -- the properties and furniture and autos and crown jewels and etc are either all or mostly-all state-owned, anyway.

I wouldn't say it's "pretty much accepted" that Charles isn't is dad. Lots of rumour and inuendo and interweb gossip. But the idea that Mr Hewitt is actually the daddy isn't generally accepted by the British public.

HEWITT: 'I STARTED DATING DIANA ONLY A YEAR AFTER WEDDING'
DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES' ex-lover JAMES HEWITT has claimed under hypnosis that he started sleeping with the tragic royal in 1982, just a year after her marriage to PRINCE CHARLES.
The former army officer previously stated that their affair did not start until 1985, but under hypnosis for British broadcaster Channel 5 show JAMES HEWITT: UNDER HYPNOSIS, Hewitt tells 'past life regressionist' TONY RAE, they enjoyed their first kiss on a sofa at a friend's house "in 1981 or 1982" after they met at a polo match.
Hewitt also admits he realised he was "in love" with the beautiful royal when they slept together shortly after.
The revelation re-ignites the question of whether Hewitt could be the father of young royal PRINCE HARRY, who was born in 1984. But Hewitt has categorically denies this saying, "I can assure you I am not."

― gr8080, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 19:55 (eighteen years ago)
I start that beef every time I walk into a pub called the kings head. I leap on the bar and call for them to display the king's head and if they can't produce it call on all stout yeoman of england to march on the palace to procure one.
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 19:58 (eighteen years ago)
I used to get into that kindof beef more than was strictly neccessary with a couple of my friends' parents when I was a teen. But yeah, a lot of people in this country are still staunch royalists and it's always fun to shout them down.

If Prince William could just die in a car crash (let's say) before having children, then Harry would be in line to the throne after Charles. Assuming the pressure to reveal his real dad would be huge, they'd probably end up with "King Andrew". LOL.
