Damn, I wish he was actually a sweet ninja rather than the WORST NINJA OF ALL TIME.

Ninjas were assassins or spies in 14th Century Japan

Thank you, BBC.

When asked about his chosen disguise, he told police he had been inspired by his boyhood idol - Robin Hood.

The old man came down the stairs but tripped on the last step letting off his rifle. Startled, the "ninja" made his escape

... but as he was heading for the door, he stepped on the end of a hay fork and hit himself on the head with the handle.

robin hood dressed like a ninja?

Judging from the evidence, it seems clear Robin Hood was a ninja. Just consider the similarities between Robin Hood and the ninjas:

1) They were active around the same time.
2) They both dressed in silly costumes and moved with groups of similarly-dressed men.
3) They botyh excelled in fighting with long wooden canes.
4) They were both master archers.
5) They were both considered shady, yet remained staunchly loyal to their lord.
6) They both stole from the rich and gave to the poor (except ninjas).

Now, before his career as a bandit, Robin Hood took part in the Crusades, right? My theory is that at some point on his way back from the Holy Land he got lost and wound up in Japan (it's not that far), and was trained by a band of rogue ninjas. And when he returned home, he decided to put the things he'd learned to good use, except that he was English and a bit gay, so instead of full black he opted for bright green clothes and a feathered hat.
