1) portugueseophone soccer fight songs sung by drunks and their cute kids
2) pão de queijo (little bread nuggets w/ melted cheese inside, so addictive)
3) running into a random brooklyn hipster tourist who lives in carroll gardens (near my old hood!) and invited me to his 4th of july party, which was nice even though i'm not coming back to nyc for the 4th
4) flan
5) the candelária church, the centro cultural banco do brasil, basically everything in that neighborhood
6) the egrets on the lakes of barra da tijuca (what's in the lakes is not fucking ten material)
7) black beans & rice, could eat every day
8) going into cidade de deus and seeing the favela as a real, functional neighborhood instead of some mythical no-man's-land of gunfire and shanties (tho those exist too)
9) catching up on awful american tv shows (men in trees! the bedford diaries!) on the hotel tv's english-language stations
10) balanced ratio of sightseeing-to-R&R
