i keep voting for the worst movie in the poll -- in this case, even though I've never seen it, "One Night at McCool's"

homosexual II, Thursday, 14 June 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

pretty creepy
but love the game and like him when he's a more (deliberately) funny character and can't not like romancing the stone

rrrobyn, Thursday, 14 June 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

The correct answer is "Romancing Kathleen Turner's Sexy Cooter"

HI DERE, Thursday, 14 June 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

he is actually really hot in that movie

rrrobyn, Thursday, 14 June 2007 17:09 (eighteen years ago)

Samski, Thursday, 14 June 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

Instead I'm voting for Kurt Russell in Big Trouble In Little China.

nickalicious, Thursday, 14 June 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

Wall Street is too easy, so it's Romancing the Stone, because the theme song is AWESOME and it's by Eddie Grant.

I'm romancing the stone, never leaving your poor heart alone
Every night and every day gonna love the hurtin' away

kenan, Thursday, 14 June 2007 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

torn between Traffic & Wonder Boys

How can you hate Traffic? The scenes of cracked-out white princess in rehab/screwing her dealer for dope, Topher Grace telling off The Man, etc.. Douglas didn't have much to do with it's awesomeness, but so what?

milo z, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:43 (eighteen years ago)

wall street is it man with bonus appearance by Seinfeld's Newman

J0hn D., Friday, 15 June 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

white princess screwing dealer for dope is a kind of racist thing lol

basically everything in that movie that didn't involve benecio del toro was tedious and overwrought and sloppily put together as far as i'm concerned, and anything that involved douglas or his 'lovely' wife was absolutely the worst parts of the movie.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 15 June 2007 00:12 (eighteen years ago)

Topher Grace and Erika Christensen were awesome in it, though.

HI DERE, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:13 (eighteen years ago)

The Game vs. Wall Street.

Steve Shasta, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:13 (eighteen years ago)

No Coma, no cr...never mind.

Sparkle Motion, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

michael douglas in not a Y!

bell_labs, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

Dan knows where it's at.

Grace, Christensen, Benicio, Don Cheadle and Luis Guzman make Traffic worthwhile (and I didn't hate Dougle or Zeta-Jones, for that matter.)

milo z, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:44 (eighteen years ago)

NO LVOE FOR THE GAFFER?

tremendoid, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

i mean, falling down. bang bang you fall down now!

tremendoid, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:57 (eighteen years ago)

Wonder Boys, but I liked him a lot in The Game. Especially those quiet parts, like when he was interacting with his maid, and he was just distant, man.

rockapads, Friday, 15 June 2007 01:16 (eighteen years ago)

And The Star Chamber isn't on this BECAUSE?

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 15 June 2007 01:29 (eighteen years ago)

DEFINITELY "FALLING DOWN" OR "THE GAME" IT WAS A TUFF DECISION TO MAAEKE>

ian, Friday, 15 June 2007 03:59 (eighteen years ago)

I saw most of The Game when I was pregnant and recovering from a horrible flu and a double ear infection. I fell asleep on the couch in the middle of it and woke up completely freaked out, wondering if my pregnancy and my entire life was some kind of game. I never did see the end of it.

I can't decide if that means I should vote for it or not.

Sara R-C, Friday, 15 June 2007 04:22 (eighteen years ago)

The Game was pretty good, but the ending was totally ridiculous.

Tuomas, Friday, 15 June 2007 07:43 (eighteen years ago)

xpost wtf!!! I too haven't seen the end of the Game. I just can't seem to finish that movie. :-(

nathalie, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:13 (eighteen years ago)

SPOILERS!!!

Though maybe it was meant to be ridiculous, I mean it's not like a realistic film. How would his brother know which direction he'd jump?

Tuomas, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:15 (eighteen years ago)

Falling Down, the only watchable Joel Schumacher film.

But really it should be for producing One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

nate woolls, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:23 (eighteen years ago)

Traffic <---------------- this is a terrible movie<---------------- this is a terrible statement

two years pass...

ew, this Solitary Man movie. Now he's seducing teenagers.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Monday, 17 May 2010 17:36 (fifteen years ago)

Imogen Poots as Allyson

What?

ljagljana (kkvgz), Monday, 17 May 2010 17:37 (fifteen years ago)

She actually gives the best performance in the film; don't know her at all

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Monday, 17 May 2010 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

one month passes...

eh i wouldn't say best performance.

still, don't really know what to think of this here film. dramatically, all these other people exist only to be spoken to and react against michael douglas. they ought to feel as though they are just as real in and of themselves and they don't, really.

kenny logins (goole), Monday, 21 June 2010 00:14 (fifteen years ago)

thirteen years pass...

Perhaps the best thread to revive this: really, really great story about Diane Thomas, who wrote Romancing the Stone, now in the NYT. Here's a gift link, and Douglas should get due credit for recognizing its brilliance early on and getting it made. Also this bit:

After offering the Colton role to his friend Jack Nicholson, who passed, Douglas got further rejections from Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood — largely because the part was secondary to that of Wilder. Out of options, Douglas cast himself.
