milo z, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:44 (eighteen years ago)

I think Die Hard is actually objectively the best film that I've seen on that list - he hasn't been in very good movies, really, has he?

chap, Thursday, 14 June 2007 23:50 (eighteen years ago)

I think I voted for "Die Hard" but "Galaxy Quest" was really, really, really great. Easily the best thing Tim Allen has ever done, anyway.

HI DERE, Friday, 15 June 2007 00:00 (eighteen years ago)

I think I voted for "Die Hard" but "Galaxy Quest" was really, really, really great. Easily the best thing Tim Allen has ever done, anyway.

That's because he hasn't managed to die yet.

John Justen, Friday, 15 June 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

dying>cocaine>galaxy quest

tremendoid, Friday, 15 June 2007 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

I think "Galaxy Quest" was the first thing I saw Tim Allen appear in. I remember thinking wow this Tim Allen guy is really great & funny, I must check him out in some other films RONG.

Pashmina, Friday, 15 June 2007 10:26 (eighteen years ago)

I had to vote for Truly Madly Deeply as he was the focus of one of my first peculiar WTF old man alert crushes.

I was like nine or ten.

*rumpie*, Friday, 15 June 2007 10:56 (eighteen years ago)

"The Sun ain't gonna shine anymore" used to induce twinges in my belows thanks to that film.

One vote for Sense and Sensibility??!! Die Hard is great and all, but come on!

Tuomas, Friday, 7 August 2009 08:44 (sixteen years ago)

I love how the mere presence of Alan Rickman in the role transforms Colonel Brandon from "reasonable suitor, really the most plausible option in terms of Sense" to a sinister, brooding man who clearly must be up to no good.

But it's totally Die Hard - "Mister Cowboy..." - or failing that, the Harry Potter films. He's been dragging a little in the last couple as Snape has become an actual character as opposed to a running joke, but he was perfectly cast as that running joke. Him versus Kenneth Branagh in #2 is endless entertainment.

I was just thinking about dude the other day, imagining a Star Wars 8 cameo. I was more taken aback by this news than I was about Bowie, quite honestly.

0 votes for January Man... Probably correct, but I watched that so many times as a kid. Kline and Rickman are great together.

Eye In The Sky is kind of an amazing movie. Brilliant screenplay for wonks. I love the "powers of ten" effect of bouncing from Nairobi to Nevada to Whitehall to all the other layers of power that get involved in operations like this, and the granularity of the morals and politics of it all. Another reminder that we're going to miss him a lot.
