I'm not sure if Dumb & Dumber is a trued "dude" movie, but it's close enough, so I decided to throw it in.

ROAD TRIP

Roz, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:11 (eighteen years ago)

This is just the "pair of dudes" poll. If we allow for more than two dudes, we should include Road Trip, Euro Trip, American Pie, Porky's, and god knows what else.

Tuomas, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)

Dumb & Dumber is on another level ("Mock!" "Yeah!" "Ing!" "Yeah!" "Bird!" "Yeah!" "Yeah!" "Yeah!") compared to the rest.

Dude, Where's My Car is so not on the level compared to the rest. It's not even Bio-Dome (STARRING KYLIE MINOGUE) level, son.

King Boy Pato, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

I just rewatched Dude, Where's My Car? last night (which prompted this poll), and it's way better than Bio-Dome. Bio-Dome is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, it doesn't have anything that'd compare to the gay Scandinavians or the bubble-wrap suits.

Tuomas, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

Or the pot-smoking dog. Any film where animals takes drugs wins my heart. And the dog even has a pipe shaped like itself.

Tuomas, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

I watched Dude Where's My Car one afternoon and it was actually quite breezily amusing - nowhere near as bad as its reputation would imply.

chap, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

I so badly want to decapitate Ashton Kutcher so your milage may vary.

But...Bio-Dome isn't even the worst Pauly Shore film! (cf: In The Army Now and Jury Duty)

King Boy Pato, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think Aston Kutcher ruins DWMC, because most of the roles in it essentially require for bad acting.

Tuomas, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:30 (eighteen years ago)

ashton kutcher has never ruined anything, ever, and in fact is a v talented man who is v good at his job and also is v intersting.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

i still voted for bill and ted though.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is the best movie in the list and one of the best movies

RJG, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:36 (eighteen years ago)

D,WMC? is by far the best movie on this list

gabbneb, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:36 (eighteen years ago)

I've never had anything against Aston Kutcher, he seems like a Keanu Reeves for the new generation, insofar as that many people seem have massive amounts of hate against him for reasons that escape me. Can't say that I've seen him done anything really interesting either.

Tuomas, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:37 (eighteen years ago)

both Kutcher and Scott are very funny and comely in Dude, which also has good Gay Content.

But then H&K is the only other one of these I've been able to sit through.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:43 (eighteen years ago)

Bill & Ted 2 is underrated though overlong, as I recall.

Dude Where's My Car? and its semi-sequel Harold and Kumar are both fucking great. As good as if not better than everything else on the list. Also--Bio-Dome but no Encino Man?

max, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

I rescreened Encino Man recently. It's really not that good.

Hurting 2, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:37 (eighteen years ago)

I watched the "sexy unrated" version of H&K and I'm honestly not sure if there was any difference. I mean once you have a christian redneck's wife naked asking two guys if they want to gangbang her, it's hard to imagine how an extra onscreen tit is going to show up on the ratings radar.

Hurting 2, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

i don't even think there ARE extra onscreen tits in the unrated version, it's like the unrated version of talladega nights, which just makes it longer, and worse, and ruins one of the best scenes in the movie, and doesn't add ANY boobs at all.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)

I hate Harold & Kumar. :/

jessie monster, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)

I was mad lifted when I saw Harold & Kumar and I thought "this isn't even funny as Stoner Comedy."

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

I am tired of "unrated" versions. The 40-Yr-Old Virgin is 17 minutes longer on DVD (!), and there's no reason for it at all. If they're going to make a movie 17 minutes longer, there better be more than a boob or two.

kenan, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

Also: "Badder Santa," which I do not want, but there's no option. It's badder or bust.

kenan, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

to BIG HOOS:

1) you are wrong about "Harold & Kumar"
2) "mad lifted" WTF your post shd be tagged with one of those Wikipedia SITE YOUR SOURCE OR YOU WILL END boxes because that phrase is straight-up bullshit

David R., Monday, 18 June 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

I don't really need boobs in my comedies, anyway. Who is that for? There are whole movies, readily available even to teenagers, that are boobs 94/7. I am in favor of such specialization.

kenan, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)

it's like the unrated version of talladega nights, which just makes it longer, and worse, and ruins one of the best scenes in the movie, and doesn't add ANY boobs at all.

AT LAST, THIS TIMELESS MASTERPIECE IS AVAILABLE THE WAY THE DIRECTOR INTENDED IT TO BE SEEN

sunny successor, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

kutcher was GOLDEN on that 70s show. he's annoying on punk'd but like honestly ill forgive him anything because he was kelso.

max, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

there are people that didn't like H&K wtf is this world coming to

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 18 June 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

i will always forgive punk'd for that episode where he pretended to arrest kirsten dunst on a dui.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 18:02 (eighteen years ago)

"Mad lifted" is actually a technical term which refers to a level of highness wherein one becomes agitated and the humor synapses are bipassed.

nickalicious, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

xp was a gyllenhaal involved?

sunny successor, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

and speaking of dudes together, im completely fascinated by bruce willis and ashton kutchers friendship.

sunny successor, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

I am extremely disappointed that Ashton Kucher and Demi Moore have not been shoved inside a Wicker Man yet

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)

Ashton = cornbread young male sex symbol (from Iowa even - and with a disabled twin to boot)
Demi = Demeter, greek goddess of the harvest/corn

I mean come on its too perfect, they must be sacrificed.

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

ohhh, you and your inexplicable deathwish for perfectly harmless human beings who've never done anything to you.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

Kutcher was rad in that time-travel-abortion movie (that I only saw thanks to the fine critics of ILX)

- is that a barn?

I never got this one, does it take some cultural knowledge to get it?

Tuomas, Monday, 18 June 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

American barns, esp in the midwest, are traditionally red. Something to do with red paint being the cheapest way back when.

Granny Dainger, Monday, 18 June 2007 23:24 (eighteen years ago)

christina applegate is such a slut in that movie

creme1, Monday, 18 June 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

america is a continent, located in the western hemisphere, which takes its name from european explorer amerigo vespucci.

the midwest is a geographic area in the central united states dominated by agriculture

Red is any of a number of similar colors evoked by light consisting predominantly of the longest wavelengths of light discernible by the human eye, in the wavelength range of roughly 625–750 nm

[Not really.])

Ivan, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 06:57 (eighteen years ago)

Wayne's World is great obviously, though the sequel is pretty awful. For me, it's a tough choice between Where's My Car and Excellent Adventure.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:26 (eighteen years ago)

I can't wait for Seriously Dude, Where's my car?

ken c, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

i mean obv: SRSLY d00D, HOW DO I SHOT CAR?

ken c, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

The funniest thing is that when the car finally appears, there's no explanation how it got there, but by this far the viewer has probably forgotten the whole thing. I mean, wasn't it stolen from the French guy?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 10:19 (eighteen years ago)

wayne's world isn't really very funny at ALL guys.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

and it's sequel is one of the most painful movies ever. mike meyers really has a lot to answer for.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

I still think the sequel should have been called "Dude, Where's My Car?"

Lorne Michaels, king of making you pay $10 to see a 5-minute sketch x 20

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

this is basically true too, but mike meyers in particular really is basically a horrible, inexplicable person. the first austin powers is ok because EVERYONE WHO ISN'T HIM is good in it. otherwise basically i want to kill him, a lot.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

the wayne's world movies are so hideously dated and unfunny and so obviously not on par with ANY of the other movies listed, even possibly bio-dome and i can't believe i'm saying that.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

also FUCK them for making bohemian rhapsody the only song that got played at parties in fifth grade.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)

mike meyers in particular really is basically a horrible, inexplicable person

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

jeez, he was the last substantially funny person on SNL. Aside from the first 2 Aps I've skipped his films, though.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

sprockets skit does not "substantially funny" make, also u mad

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

really, you have no right to comment on how awful mike meyers is unless you've seen more than just austin powers 1 and 2.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:43 (eighteen years ago)

I still love So I Married An Axe Murderer and probably always will. This may just be some holdout of teenage nostalgia but I refuse to hate it.

Road to Utopia is the best H/C.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)
