Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

how am i supposed to find a place to live if i don't even understand how to shot bathroom

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

The sink appears to be mounted over the toilet bowl?

I DIED, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

I think that's mostly a perspective thing, thought I wdn't be entirely surprised if the room wasn't very big. The sink is actually on the wall to yr right but wall is not in the picture, which makes the tub & toilet scale funny.

Laurel, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

ghost rider, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

i am also confused by this bathroom. There's something going on there that is more than perspective. That bathroom is wrong.

kenan, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

that's not what I was saying, but what your idea is much bettar

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

look the pedestal sink is crammed right next to the toilet that is facing the wrong way because america has an obsession with wasting space in bathrooms by having a bath that noone uses.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:43 (eighteen years ago)

it's bad

RJG, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

what is that green room? where is this kitchen? what is going on with the stairs? i assumed the stairs were the foyer of the building but if that is the case--WHAT IS THAT GREEN ROOM? is there only one room, or multiple rooms? it is a mystery.jpg

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

It looks like when you sit on the john your legs would actually go under the sink.

nickalicious, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

how can you say it is bad, it lists "feng shui" as an amenity.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

The sink appears to be mounted over the toilet bowl?

Fixed.

Phil D., Monday, 18 June 2007 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

That looks like a second toilet in the foyer.

nickalicious, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

it's actually bare and all of the "furnishings" are accomplished trompe-l'oeil wall murals

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:47 (eighteen years ago)

wait, that would be awesome

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

The photographer probably just accidentally flicked the "look bigger" switch that estate agent cameras have the wrong way.

anatol_merklich, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

wherever you live, and whatever you do, it is U+K that you have this fruit bowl:

I would live in this apartment 94/7

I DIED, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

Schef you should rent this place because it is a block from Temperance Hall!!!

If not all the DCers could just pony up $100/month for a shared post-temperance crash pad.

I DIED, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:52 (eighteen years ago)

That's not a bath tub, it's the biggest toilet bowl in the world ever! I think I read about this somewhere.

StanM, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

the fucking target has really upped the prices in that area, and also made the bathrooms completely cubist

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

you pay extra for the weird

kenan, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:59 (eighteen years ago)

I DIED, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

real estate is something else, isn't it?

"For $1800, you can get a normal bathroom. But check this out... for $4200, you get to shit in the sink!"

kenan, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

maybe temperance hall will just let us live there

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

If we can find a townhouse zoned for first floor commercial we could establish the Flying Dawkins AND live there.

I DIED, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

they misplaced the bath handle. if you can reach for it, why need it? (yes, i know it's for the toilet paper)

i just found an apt that offers a washer/dryer, a backyard that is available for private bbqs, a bar...but no oven.

what is that about??

what is that about??

Buy your own. Do you want to use some nasty oven that people have been cooking who knows what in anyway?

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

jesus christ so basically d.c. real estate market = boston except maybe ten dollars cheaper, yet equally fucked up in terms of "OH LOL BATHROOM IS INSIDE OF KITCHEN, THEY ARE SAME ROOM".

jessie monster, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)

I've always wanted a claw-foot tub in my kitchen. You know, like in that movie about the songstress who came to NYC with no job and got a single apartment on the Lower East side, then made good by reclaiming her sexuality on top of a bar.

Laurel, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

A girl I dated when I lived in NYC had her tub in the kitchen. It was strange. Don't think I could deal with that on a daily basis.

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

people, a bar but no oven! that is like my dream apartment

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

All right, Skinny Minnie.

Laurel, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

I agree that the grill could service you fine. At least for the summer. Then maybe you could get a sterno can.

Couldn't resist the urge to bathe and make toast?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

my first-ever apartment in new york was on the corner of bedford and grand, in a former auto parts store (which is now a bar), and we had a clawfoot tub in the LIVING ROOM. it felt awesomely decadent somehow, rather than somewhat shabby. we had some cheap japanese rice-paper blinds that we'd stand up around the tub if there was company over.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)

Couldn't resist the urge to bathe and make toast?

The risk of electrocution would outweigh any benefit.

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

when i had to move out of that place i was lookin around the LES for a two-bedroom apartment, and i went to see one where the front door led directly into a hallway, rather than a room. at one end of the hallway was a small bedroom. at the other end, an even smaller bedroom. smack in the MIDDLE of the hallway, and facing the door, was an oven and sink!!?? only other room was a tiny bathroom behind a door in that hallway.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

One "apartment" I looked at in Park Slope was in an old shopfront. The would-be roommate showed me the cubicule dividers that I could use to make my "room". In the windowless basement was a bathroom, kitchen and the weight bench where her keyboardist slept.

Ms Misery, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

all mod ex-cons!!

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:05 (eighteen years ago)

a friend of mine lived in a loft right at the level of the marcy jmz stop w a tub in the middle - so people could watch u shower from the comfort of the train. i mean there was a shower curtain but still.

jhøshea, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

jerry the nipper had a shower in his bedroom. it made the place very humid! must have been great for the pores.

homosexual II, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

the thing is that ppl apparently do not understand the concept of how to have a house or something, there's no reason to have a tub in your foyer or an oven in your closet.

i had the craziest bathroom in my place on the uws. it was situated in such a way that the sink was BEHIND the shower stall and toilet, making it actually physically impossible for anyone to ever, ever use that sink. why did they even have it? why not knock out the whole thing and put a big tub there? mystery.jpg.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

finding an apartment is one of the suckiest things in the world is the other thing about all this

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 18 June 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

it is indded sucky - but not as sucky as finding a decent roommate!
