So I am sort of looking for a backbone type job to get me out of the house and enable me to move out of home and stuff, but obviously you don't just walk into writing work. I haven't really shown the discipline to write freelance and make enough money to get by, it's all too sporadic even though I've had some successes.
And though it seemed I'd gotten into subbing recently the work has really dried up there, haven't got a shift in a month and despite them reassuring me that people will be away in the summer and things will change, I've forgotten all my training and don't feel confident about the job as much anymore.
In any case I can't just wait around for them.
SO.....what sort of job do I get? I mean, I don't feel I'm giving up on my dreams yet so nothing too soul destroying, I want to write in the evenings and do the few regular things I have going then, I even feel having a routine and more money might allow me to do some creative stuff on the side more easily than trying to force myself to do creative stuff with all this free time.
I have good retail experience, various print experience but no 9-5 day in day out stuff, and a good CV plus a 2:1.
I'm sort of confused about what to do, I don't want to give up on writing and stuff but I need money, I'm not sure where the midpoint between sensible job and likeable job is.
I've looked at a lot of recruitment sites and I don't really seem to be qualified for anything.
I can think of more erm...rich industries I could work in like advertising/copywriting (I even considered doing a Masters in Advertising down the line sometime) but I feel experience is needed. I do think these seem like creative office environments, is that an accurate impression?
Similarly I looked at a job that was labelling image databases and wanted people with linguistic arts degrees, that kind of thing sounds interesting but that was one of the few jobs from thousands I've been looking at.
So I'm a bit confused, I know I really like to work with words and with speaking, but I don't really know which direction to go in, or which direction won't mean closing my brain off to freelance writing/DJing/radio and some of the more fun careers I'd still like to try.
Long post I know....but, any advice. Or are all of you unemployed too :)

been thinking of moving to London and there's a possibility of a job there but in the spirit of not counting my chickens was wondering what's best to look for (even in the UK).
I think a move would be good for me probably, for DJing and all the other writing stuff perhaps, just not sure of how to be okay for money in London.
Any tips, Londoners, even down to what websites are good to start perusing daily?
