I'm a 3rd year student teacher and am friendly, punctual and reliable. Although I'm a pianist, I can't (or rather shouldn't) play at the moment due to recurring RSI. I'm the organist for a parish church nearby, and have previously worked in a Michelin-starred hotel as both a front-of-house staff member and kitchen porter.

I am, however, willing to turn my hand to anything and work hard at it. I'm available from now until the start of October.

Any offers? Suggestions? Ideas? Comments (though not on my spelling or grammar - unless you're an editor and want a proofreader?)

Ok, maybe not as a proof-reader then!

Alternatively I could shut my trap and get into gear and write a CV, I know, I know...

This may be an obvious one, but have you checked your uni's careers service website for vacation work?

s1jobs.com is probably the easiest way of finding out what temping jobs are around, you can email your CV to any number of agencies rather than having to do the trudge round (but the trudge is usually worth it, if you look presentable and have a good CV to hand, that puts you further up the pecking order in my experience - you're a face to the recruiter rather than an impersonal piece of paper.)

Are you in Glasgow at the moment? Where are you going to be staying?

you should be able to get a job in a restaurant fairly easily if you've had experience in fine dining. i would just go round the pricier places and ask.

I'll be in the west end just off Byres Road. At the moment I'm just south of the city centre. Thinking of a trudge round with a CV (which I intend to write and scrub up this evening!)

I've checked the uni careers/jobs place. It's mainly internships etc for people on engineering/sciencey courses, or so it seems. I've found a few more decent restaurants though, might give them a go...
