What's he up to these days? Is he cool? What say you?
It seems like eons since the X-Files finished. DD is the William Shatner of the 21st century, I reckon.

William Shatner is still the William Shatner of the 21st century IMO!
― Will M., Friday, 22 June 2007 16:55 (eighteen years ago)
I had such a crush on this guy. but i was also a total nerd.
― Roz, Friday, 22 June 2007 16:56 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, I guess what I mean is, it would be so great if DD released a spoken word album of X-Files inspired songs!
― jel --, Friday, 22 June 2007 16:57 (eighteen years ago)
I don't know if he's cool but man did I dig him during the X-Files. He was in a movie lately that looked lame as did his beard.
― Ms Misery, Friday, 22 June 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)
he was awesome in zoolander
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 22 June 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)
everybody was awesome in zoolander.
― Roz, Friday, 22 June 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)
I haven't seen anything he's done in years, but I still have a crush on him.
Also, I miss the early years of the X Files.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 22 June 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)
It was thinking about his appearance in Zoolander that inspired me to start this thread! I seriously thought about becoming a hand model.
― jel --, Friday, 22 June 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)
he will forever be awesome for his larry sanders episodes
― ghost rider, Friday, 22 June 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)
Also, DD is pretty funny in his Twin Peaks role.
Clearly, I need to see Zoolander.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 22 June 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)
I think I'm the only person in the world who loved "Evolution". Though probably more for the fact that someone convinced julianne moore to be in it.

THIS AUGUST: David Duchovny having sex w/ a bucketful of 20-year-olds in the new Showtime comedy series, Californication. Someone else can Google for info.
― David R., Friday, 22 June 2007 17:25 (eighteen years ago)
I liked Evolution! I'm surprised there wasn't a sequel.
Californication? Red Hot Chilli Peppers, NO!
― jel --, Friday, 22 June 2007 17:29 (eighteen years ago)
IT'S JUST A SHITTY WORD
& this makes the 2nd time DD's been involved in a project that does something stupid w/ California.
― David R., Friday, 22 June 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)
The word "California," that is.
― David R., Friday, 22 June 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)
i read recently that they were finalizing getting everyone signed for a second x files movie, which allegedly is going to be a stand-alone, monster of the week sort of thing. but who knows when that will get off the ground. they'd have to do a lot of pre-release hype to get anyone to care these days.
― akm, Friday, 22 June 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)
I don't know why I'm surprised, but I really thought he and Gillian Anderson would emerge with credible careers after the series. Instead he's done a bunch of B-movies and she's done overreaching arty films. Disappointing.
― mitya, Sunday, 24 June 2007 07:10 (eighteen years ago)
I loved him in Zoolander!
― Trayce, Sunday, 24 June 2007 07:25 (eighteen years ago)
He was pretty good in that movie where he plays a heart transplant receiver, who goes looking for the widow of the person who's heart he got. I thought that was a pretty good film, at least if you like girl films with romance and tears and stuff like that.
Evolution, on the other hand, was a big disappointment. It started out fine, but in the end I though they got quite little out of a great premise.

LOS ANGELES — David Duchovny, who plays a sex-obsessed character on Showtime's "Californication," has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction.
The 48-year-old actor said he did so voluntarily, in a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein. He added: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
Duchovny's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the report, which first appeared on the Web site People.com. She and Stein both declined further comment.
"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," the network said in a statement.
The second season of "Californication" begins Sept. 28.
Duchovny starred as the conspiracy-minded Fox Mulder on "The X-Files" TV series and in two films. "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" opened in theaters earlier this summer.
He and his wife, actress Tea Leoni, have two children. The couple married in 1997.

― latebloomer, Saturday, 30 August 2008 14:14 (seventeen years ago)

― max, Saturday, 30 August 2008 16:57 (seventeen years ago)

― stevienixed, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:03 (seventeen years ago)

X Files" star David Duchovny's announcement that was he was in rehab for sex addiction sparked a lot of rumors. One of them was that he'd been caught having an affair with his tennis instructor (a woman) and that he was undergoing rehab to save his marriage.
Alas, it isn't so, says a close friend. Duchovny did not check in because of an extramarital fling. That much the friend is certain of. Even more so: Duchovny's problem has been longstanding. His wife, Tea Leoni, was aware of it for some time. It had just reached a point where it had to be treated.
I have inferred from my conversation with Duchovny's friend that this has something to do with an addiction to pornography, probably on the internet. It's the sex equivalent of a gambling addiction, where the person is just hopelessly trapped in chat rooms....
By the way, I'm told that David issued that press statement about his rehab because the tabloids were about to issue their own story. What happened: A fellow patient "dropped a dime" on David to make some extra coin. Nice confidentiality!
