It's not good, but the acronym is good.

I'm sure I saw this at some point in my youth, but all I can remember of it is the movie poster

same thing here. i know i saw it but that's about it

which means it must actually be WORSE than all the horror movies I DO remember from my youth like Piranha II and Prom Night.

Piranha scared me as a kid.

first one is actually pretty great! One of John Sayles' better scripts, honestly.

it's great that she saw fit to address the guy as sir, while the fish eats the guests

The DVD version sounds better than the version I rented years ago actually.

THEY LIVE is better for many reasons butprimarily the extended bro-down throw-down between Roddy Piper and Keith 'I didn't take it out for air' David.

the only film I've ever walked out of... because I was too frightened by it. It was being shown in my local church hall as the sunday afternoon kids film show... the priest said at Mass that it was going to be "King Kong"... he lied.

CHUD, meanwhile, is a film I have never seen, but "CHUD!" is a common greeting among my friends, particularly those who like to play Call of Cthulhu.

CHUD is OK -- not great, but not embarrassingly bad. i found it funny b/c i first saw it just after home alone came out, and i found it humorous to see daniel stern in a straight/serious role.

the sequel -- BUD THE CHUD -- is just dumb. trying TOO hard to be funny.

The new-ish film the Descent was pretty lame and the monsters looked like CHUDs.

But I heard The Descent was incredibly scary!

I think there is something intrinsically very scary about chudlike monsters - shambling degenerate humanoids who live only for human flesh, who have no interaction with their surface dwelling fellows save to satisfy their hunger or, worse, their bestial lusts.

"because I used to be a nuclear physicist!" = best line in whole movie

inexplicable people who appear in CHUD:

- John Goodman
- Jay Thomas
- the corrupt cop from the first couple seasons of the Sopranos

this movie is really an overlooked gem. I think it might have been John Goodman's first film.

wife wanted to watch Creepshow on Halloween but it was checked out so I got this instead

The Crate monster scared the crap out of me.

will see it when it gets back into the store and report back... off the top of my head the Tide one seems like the best but I dunno.
