― bernard snowy, Sunday, 24 June 2007 12:58 (eighteen years ago)
The "Riding the Range" one makes me want to set the world on fire.
― Alex in NYC, Sunday, 24 June 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)
The Backyardigans are EVIL. Especially Uniqua.
Probably that one where they have a race.
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 24 June 2007 18:37 (eighteen years ago)
Let me guess, you're all parents. (I know two of you are.)
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 24 June 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)
I am not a parent and I fucking love this show. I bought my wife the soundtrack. My favorite episode might be Eureka! Viking Voyage was good too.
― Jeff, Sunday, 24 June 2007 18:59 (eighteen years ago)
Riding the range, riding the range, riding the range....
― Maria :D, Monday, 25 June 2007 04:09 (eighteen years ago)
Who else HATES Higglytown Heroes? I keep looking for a reason to forbid Rufus from watching it. No redeeming value. (Actually, we just downgraded our cable so it won't be a problem anymore.)
― Maria :D, Monday, 25 June 2007 04:11 (eighteen years ago)
good songwriting on the backies. higglies blow for sure.
also on the kill list: dragon tales doodlebops
m.
― msp, Monday, 25 June 2007 04:55 (eighteen years ago)
I'm kidless but I watch Jane and the Dragon. Don't have cable.
― wanko ergo sum, Monday, 25 June 2007 05:02 (eighteen years ago)
They're all good, but the tango-flavored secret agent episode is my favorite.
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 25 June 2007 06:26 (eighteen years ago)
Although I think I may have been outvoted by these two Backyardigans fans http://www.panix.com/~lauterb/halloween17.jpg
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 25 June 2007 06:35 (eighteen years ago)
It's just occurred to me that they're probably dubbed with different voices in the UK. The voices here are really, really annoying.
― Noodle Vague, Monday, 25 June 2007 06:38 (eighteen years ago)
Do you they have some kind of UK accents?
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 25 June 2007 06:51 (eighteen years ago)
Sort of, yeah.
― Noodle Vague, Monday, 25 June 2007 06:57 (eighteen years ago)
i like WonderPets. the baby doesn't seem to care much for it though
― akm, Monday, 25 June 2007 13:16 (eighteen years ago)
I just realized I will get sucked into this Oh my holy god
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 25 June 2007 13:20 (eighteen years ago)
There are worse things
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 25 June 2007 13:59 (eighteen years ago)
I also realized that "Sesame Street" is about to come back onto my personal radar. They have these new characters I guess, and skits like "Meal or No Meal" -- oh wait, not supposed to talk about my kids, right? MY BAD.
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 25 June 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)
Matt, what's a surfeit if you can't share it?
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 25 June 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)
But that's all I do. THAT'S ALL I AM, MAAAAAAAAAN.
Seriously though I draw the line at the Wiggles, and I draw it with a big sword that is actually a feather.
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 25 June 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)
i don't have kids, and i love the backyardigans. that said, i was introduced to the show by a 4yr old and if not for that would have most likely remained unaware of it. i've got a stuffed pablo doll, which is kind of embarrassing to admit.
― lauren, Monday, 25 June 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)
Does that Pablo doll turn around and sing the theme song like the one my little pirates have?
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 25 June 2007 17:00 (eighteen years ago)
sadly, no. mine is very low-tech.
― lauren, Monday, 25 June 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)
Ours is often seen in pair events with his sparring partner, a Tigger with a spring underneath him.
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 25 June 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)
still my fave i think:
is foster's home for imaginary friends the best recent kidz cartoon to hit the airwaves?
but i do dig backyardigans. so cool to look at.
― scott seward, Monday, 25 June 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)
I don't like that computer animated look, it feels cold.
― Noodle Vague, Monday, 25 June 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)
omg I'm watching the flying rock episode which is based on the works of GIORGIO MORODER
― teeny, Sunday, 28 October 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

― moullet, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 19:57 (sixteen years ago)

they just got into yo gabba gabba
― velko, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 20:02 (sixteen years ago)
Volcano Sisters is still my fave Backyardigans. so brilliant.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 20:04 (sixteen years ago)
A few of us were discussing the dubbing of American kids shows for the UK the other day, and decided that if Sesame Street had been made in the 00s, Cookie Monster would have doubtless been renamed Biscuit Beast - munching into a pack of Bourbons with his catchphrase, "Mmmm, I love biscuits, me."
― Stevie T, Tuesday, 14 July 2009 20:07 (sixteen years ago)
How come they dub the shows when we Americans still have to deal with The Hoobs?

I don't understand the Uniqua hate upthread. She's got a really nice voice. Check out The Key To The Nile for a Uniqua tour-de-force. Let's see......Moster Detectives, Castaways, Volcano Sisters, It's Great To Be a Clown are all really good episodes with cool music. Really the best ones are the ones with the best music. There's one set on a train with Indian-style music that's pretty cool. And one about the world turning to ice.
― everything, Friday, 17 June 2011 20:22 (fourteen years ago)
And "Scared of You" (I think I might have that one confused with Monster Detectives).
Love this song:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR_dPP_syBQ

huka pele rules. better than anything the dude did with the lounge lizards. and my volcano sisters love will never die. just watched it a month or so ago!
― scott seward, Friday, 17 June 2011 20:53 (fourteen years ago)
ha-ha. That is funny about the Lounge Lizards. I've thought similar thoughts about the music in the Backyardigans for sure. Or if I hear some lame Rogers and Hammerstein tune or something I sometimes think that the Backyardigans could've done this much better.
This is another worthy episode - For The Love of Socks:

I was just introduced to this show a couple weeks ago when staying with my friends who have kids!
Apparently there have been enough pirate episodes that there's a DVD that is comprised of ONLY pirate episodes.
― mh, Friday, 17 June 2011 21:32 (fourteen years ago)
Can't believe no one mentioned SAMURAI PIE.
― Stevie T, Friday, 17 June 2011 21:35 (fourteen years ago)
Ah yes, the Great Pie number from that one is cool.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVS01TXqYgg
A couple more. The Flying Rock episode has a funk/soul/disco soundtrack:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO94-pCMibg

rufus says his favorite episode is "the first one with the pirates and the really strong mermaid".
cyrus says one of his favorites is the one where "tyrone uses his lucky penny".
