Whatever happened to Marc Caro? Can we blame/credit his absence for Jeunet getting more sentimental?

Dante 01
Director: Marc Caro
Release Date: 16 January 2008 (France)

"Dante 01 is a space prison drift in the suffocating atmosphere of the hostile planet called Dante. Inside, six of the most dangerous criminals of the surrounding worlds are used as guinea-pigs with obscure experiments. A resistance is organized around César (Dominique Pinon), a psychopath manipulator. But its authority it's called into question by the arrival of Saint Georges (Lambert Wilson), a mysterious prisoner possessed by a secret force which he will learn how to control, using it to face the hostility of his fellow prisoners and to release them from the maleficent attraction of Dante."

oh yeh, its his first film since "city of lost children"

Their first was their best although City of Lost Children is stellar. After that things get a bit wonky.

Alien Resurrection is the second best Alien film. Winner.

milo z, Sunday, 24 June 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

Alien Resurrection?! Have you guys even seen Delicatessen?

Tuomas, Monday, 25 June 2007 05:35 (eighteen years ago)

Of course. Milo z's comment is obviously not serious. His short films (Caro's) are fantastic, esp Le Topologue.

Delicatessen is pish. i even found it so as an impressionable 19 year old.

jed_, Monday, 25 June 2007 12:19 (eighteen years ago)

did jeunet direct ads for stella atois? they feature a few of his favourite actors (eg ron perlman) and the have that distinctive 'jeunet' look to them.

i've seen delicatessen, amelie and recently revisited city of the lost children - still has the same magic as the first time i saw it.

I haven't seen TCoLC ever since 1995, I remember it felt kinda hollow and soulless then, compared to Delicatessen. Maybe I should rewatch it.
