Brought to mind by my right knee, which I banged up a few years ago when I fell down some stairs. Now, when it's raining, or it's gonna rain (today is a good example of this) the son of a bitch aches like it's holding a grudge against me.
How about you?

My girlfriend's right knee does the same because of a surgery she had a few years ago. Something to do with marching band I think.

Left knee for me. Plus, when a really big storm is coming, I get a migraine in my skull. That's two weather bones!
― deedeedeextrovert, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)
Huh, I had a headache today. It hadn't occurred to me it might be weather related. I wonder...
― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 03:35 (eighteen years ago)
weather has been dismal lately & my right shin-bone has had me in paaaaain, but I've never had a weather-bone before. Maybe I just have shin splints (probably not since I never run).

I thought this was going to be about some variant of "morning wood."

If there's a better name for it, I'm happy to listen to suggestions.

stiff-when-wet syndrome
― Curt1s Stephens, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 03:40 (eighteen years ago)
That sounds even dirtier!
― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 26 June 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)
Right knee and left elbow. They both ache when the weather changes. It would be a lot more useful if it would ache before the weather changes.

I've got a weather bone, and the weather today is SEXY. pant pant pant pant, aaaOOOOOgah aaaOOOOOgah, AYAYAYAYAYAYAYA, OWWWOOOOOOOO OWWWOOOO OWOO OWOO OWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! [ /obvious joke ]

I thought this was a variant on the weather stick: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_stick
or else that gag where you can tell the weather with a shoelace or whatever.

My knee is ok (and indeed, the rain seems to be passing to the west of town), but my headache is the same as it was Monday. I'm thinking it must be unrelated to atmospheric humidity and point instead to the fact that trying to learn Excel formulas on the fly is a big pain in the tuchis.

I had the bridge of my nose broken when I was 9 - it still aches when the weather changes. Made so much worse by wearing glasses :(

Hey teeny!
I hurt my left knee about 12 years ago. Ever since it's hurt when overexerted or when rainy. Lately it's been hurting constantly. This could be due to monsoon season in TX but I afear it could be arthritis now that I'm getting older. Boo. I'm wearing a brace today. Not sure if it's helping.

i get weather migraines. when a storm's coming, i can feel it days in advance. and a few weeks ago i was talking to someone whose dad moved the family to phoenix as a curative for his weather migraines.

I don't believe in the weather bone.
― stevienixed, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:25 (eighteen years ago)
Weather migraines? I do know that when I was in Hawaii I used to get migraines only in specific parts of it. Very weird. Something with the wind maybe?
― stevienixed, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:26 (eighteen years ago)
The air pressure, I thought? I can sometimes feel storms in my wrist, which I fractured and had surgery on.
― Vinnie, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)
I've assumed it had to do with humidity messing with your joints. Whatever, it's always affected me.
― Ms Misery, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)
I never hurt, but i definitely feel it in my ears. I'd assume it's more the barometric pressure than the humidity, because it can be simultaneously super-humid and very unlikely to rain for days.
― Will M., Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:50 (eighteen years ago)
This is true. Texas is insanely humid for many months out of the year but my knee doesn't, or hasn't anyway, always hurt.
― Ms Misery, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, and the joint thing reminds me of the bends, which is also ENTIRELY SCIENTIFIC PROOF that it is due to pressure.
― Will M., Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)
Ah fuck, maybe that's why my ear (right one) is throbbing most of the time. Really annoying.
