My otherwise cynical and intelligent "horoscopes friend" recently told me "oh of course you don't believe in astrology, you Leos are all like that"

When I was in high school I was checking out my sign's profile in a Cosmo bedside astrologer. It described the perfect Sag look as a short black bob, clear red lipstick and big chunky earrings. Which was exactly my look. My adolescent self was stunned.

I don't believe in astrology at all but read horoscopes ocassionally because they can be amusing. I'm a Capricorn and pretty much the antithesis of a typical one.

I also find them fun but don't place much store by them. However I don't completely discount them. I like to keep my options open.

My grandfather *was* an astrologer. Some of it makes sense, some of it is bollocks. I'm willing to entertain the idea that people born in different lunar phases have different sorts of personal magnetism and traits, and that the time in the year that we are born probably affects us more than we'd like to admit.

I am an Aquarius and have some propensity to be social, but it is by no means mandatory. It's all in the rising signs. If you're Aquarius with say Virgo rising you will be idealistic and very, very anal. Capricorn rising, money finds you. Libra rising, you'll be amazed if you can ever make a decision in your life.

I think they are silly, bordering on stupid, and yet I also enjoy them.

Yes Suzy brings up a key point. What we normally call our "sign" is only a sun sign. There are many other signs realted to different astrological positions/phases that combine to supposedly influence you.

astrology is kinda an interesting view of the human mind. i dont really buy it as far as divining someone based on their birthday. although anyone who's serious would tell you that you can't tell anything by sign alone - you need rising, houses etc - aka a complete chart based on the exact time you were born.

rising sign is the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon when you were born. it's the only one where you have to know the exact time you were born to know your sign.
