I went to high school with a very odd girl who one day showed up with a tail sticking out from under her uniform cardigan. What asked about the tail, she said it helped her communicate with life on other planest. No joke.

London gig-goers will of course be aware of famed weirdo perv Jim Rat-tail, often seen sporting a long black leather tail at gigs while taking photos of female musicians to put on his website.
