So, Bush signed some sort of agreement without anyone's permission that treats Mexico, USA and Canada as one entity and the new currency for the whole lot is going to be called the "amero." This union will go into effect in 2010.
No big deal?
Maybe this is why the government doesn't seem too overly concerned with finishing up that Mexican border security or illegal immigration anymore?

LINK PLEASE (I'll wait)
― Hurting 2, Saturday, 30 June 2007 12:37 (eighteen years ago)
Link? How about a Lou Dobbs YouTube video from last year?

I like this revolutionary approach to the news;
Mika Brzezinski of MNSBC rips Paris report (refuses to report Paris Hilton as a lead story because it's not news!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VdNcCcweL0
That's why we haven't heard about the North American Union... too busy with bullshit.
Anyway, back to North American Union: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lou+dobbs+north+american+union&search=
― dean ge, Saturday, 30 June 2007 12:47 (eighteen years ago)
No, I mean an actual factual article with credible information that the North American Union "will go into effect in 2010."
― Hurting 2, Saturday, 30 June 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)
Ah, I see.

lot's compiled here: http://mrspickles.wordpress.com/tag/amero/
― msp, Saturday, 30 June 2007 12:56 (eighteen years ago)
Dude, those videos jump from a document on trade and border cooperation to complete speculation. "Some elites are pushing for a North American Union with a new currency called the Amero..." What elites? Where are they pushing for this?
― Hurting 2, Saturday, 30 June 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)
http://www.spp.gov/ seems to clarify it in their convenient myth vs. fact page, so it would seem Lou Dobbs and the stock guys talking about the "amero" are liars. Only 3 years to wait and see, I suppose.
Let's resume this discussion no sooner than Jan. 1, 2010 and no later than December 31, 2010.
― dean ge, Saturday, 30 June 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)
Ok man, see you then.
― Hurting 2, Saturday, 30 June 2007 13:02 (eighteen years ago)
But, seriously, I hadn't heard of it before randomly coming across it just now. Doesn't it seem more important than Paris Hilton?
― dean ge, Saturday, 30 June 2007 13:04 (eighteen years ago)
Something funny from the spp site myth vs. fact:
Myth: The SPP was an agreement signed by Presidents Bush and his Mexican and Canadian counterparts in Waco, TX, on March 23, 2005.
Fact: The SPP is a dialogue to increase security and enhance prosperity among the three countries. The SPP is not an agreement nor is it a treaty. In fact, no agreement was ever signed.
Then, on the fact sheet page under "The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America Key Accomplishments since June 2005"
The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), launched by the leaders of Mexico, Canada and the United States in March 2005, aims to promote growth and economic opportunity, increase security, and improve the quality of life of our peoples. In June 2005, lead Ministers issued a joint report outlining steps to achieve these goals. Since then, highlights of accomplishments include:
* To enhance growth and competitiveness in a key sector, the North American Steel Trade Committee developed a new strategy aimed at reducing market distortions, facilitating trade and promoting overall competitiveness through innovation and market development. * To adapt to changes in sourcing and production methods, the three countries have analyzed ways to liberalize requirements for obtaining NAFTA duty-free treatment. Changes to the rules of origin have been implemented successfully and technical teams are working on additional changes. * To speed up response times when managing infectious disease outbreaks, save lives, and reduce health care costs, the United States and Canada signed an agreement to enable simultaneous exchange of information between virtual national laboratory networks (PulseNet). * To make consumer goods safer, save lives, and prevent injuries, the United States and Mexico signed an agreement for advance notifications when consumer goods violate one country's safety standards or pose a danger to consumers. Canada and the United States signed a similar agreement in June. * The United States and Canada signed an agreement, which is a milestone in pipeline regulatory cooperation, to allow increased compliance data sharing, staff exchanges and joint training. The sharing of best practices will lead to a more uniform regulatory approach for cross border pipelines. * The United States and Canada reached a full Open-Skies aviation agreement, removing all economic restrictions on air service to, from, and beyond one another's territory by the airlines of both countries. The agreement will encourage new markets development, lower prices and greater competition. * The United States and Mexico expanded air service in specific markets by increasing the number of designated passenger airlines per city-pair, and opening cooperative marketing arrangements (code-sharing) to airlines of either country and carriers of third countries. * In order to increase navigational accuracy across the region, five Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) stations were installed in Canada and Mexico in 2005. * To promote prosperity by reducing the costs of trade, the United States and Canada decreased transit times at the Detroit/Windsor gateway, our largest border crossing point, by 50 percent. * To support increased trade and expedite secure processing of cross-border trade and travel between Mexico and the United States, six FAST/Express lanes are operating at the US-Mexico border, a new lane in Nogales will open soon, and we are working on a project for a lane in Matamoros. Exclusive lines and schedules will be implemented at nine crossings. * To allow more efficient examination of rail cargo for hazardous materials and illicit flows of goods, the United States and Mexico have installed gamma ray equipment at key border crossings. * To speed cargo shipping, the three countries are developing uniform in-advance electronic exchange of cargo manifest data for maritime, railroad and motor carriers. * To improve air quality and promote a more competitive automotive industry, Mexico implemented an official standard to reduce sulfur in fuels. This will increase supply of low-sulfur fuels in Mexico. * To increase border security, Mexican and U.S. agencies are harmonizing risk assessment mechanisms, exchanging information, and establishing protocols to facilitate detection of fraud and smuggling. * To strengthen the integrity and security of asylum and refugee status determination systems, the United States and Canada launched a pilot project to share information on refugee and asylum claimants based on a comparison of fingerprint records. * To address border violence, United States and Mexico signed an Action Plan to Combat Border Violence and Improve Public Safety. Officials of the two countries in Nogales, AZ- Nogales, Sonora and Laredo, TX- Nuevo Laredo completed protocols on border security and public safety. * Under the United States-Mexico Voluntary Repatriation Program, more than 35,000 persons, including 20,500 in 2005, were returned to their home in a secure, legal, and humanitarian way. * To increase maritime security, the United States and Canada completed joint exercises on the St. Clair and Detroit Rivers in September and in February during Super Bowl XL. Officers, who were cross-designated on vessels of the other nation, could authorize pursuit of suspect vessels crossing jurisdictions. * To advance preparedness to address a cyber incident affecting critical infrastructure, authorities from the United States and Canada completed a multi-national exercise, Cyberstorm, in February 2006. * To enhance aviation security, the United States, Canada, and Mexico completed training on principles to protect aircraft from terrorism threats, on marksmanship skills, and on emergency procedures. * To enhance port security, Canada and the United States concluded port facility visits at Oakland, CA and Vancouver, BC in October 2005 to facilitate the development of benchmark security standards. * To ensure food safety while facilitating trade, a Food Safety Coordinating Task Force was formed and is developing a prioritized list of standards to compare for similarities, differences, and scientific bases for the differences. These efforts will facilitate the development of North American standards and, as appropriate, the removal of differences in standards. * To enhance clarity and compatibility of energy regulation, Canadian, U.S. and Mexican regulators began regular meetings to exchange information on regulatory standards and energy market developments and to discuss bringing gas from Alaska to the North American market. * To reduce marine air pollution, Canada and the United States have coordinated data collection, marine inventory development and air quality monitoring. The two countries are preparing to approach the International Maritime Organization to designate special areas for controlling sulfur emissions from marine vessels. * Canada and the United States are developing Mutual Assistance Arrangements, which will enhance our preparedness for cross-border public health emergencies; Mexico has been invited to participate.
Ah, so no agreement was ever signed which was specifically named the Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America. It's just a sort of term we apply to all the other signed agreements, etc. Glad we cleared that up.

This research will reveal the betrayal of the American people by a government cabal who are bent on destroying our sovereignty in order to create a North American Union. The miscreants include many who function at the highest levels in our government. Many hold membership in the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and the Trilateral Commission and pursue a subversive agenda.
Good to see that they've dragged out the ol' one-world-government conspiracist whipping boy(s), the Trilateral Commission/CFR, for this particular plot. I have a poster-sized diagram from about 1980 explaining all the mysterious ways in which they control our government that'd make a black widow's web seem orderly. I dunno when the TC/CFR is gonna get 'round to implementing a unitary world government, but considering they've been at this for decades, it's hard not to think that they've been slacking off.

― gabbneb, Saturday, 30 June 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)
If the coming culture means that we get more burritos, tamales, lucha libre, CBC/Hockey NIght in Canada/Don Cherry, Brave New Waves and CBC3 radio, i'm all all fer it.
― kingfish, Saturday, 30 June 2007 18:45 (eighteen years ago)
Wait, who's talking about the scariness of it? Lou Dobbs? I didn't actually watch any of the Lou Dobbs clips. I just read about it.
― dean ge, Saturday, 30 June 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)
Maybe the currency will be Amirite?
― dean ge, Saturday, 30 June 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)
Good to see that they've dragged out the ol' one-world-government conspiracist whipping boy(s), the Trilateral Commission/CFR, for this particular plot.
This is from the other guy's link?
As an aside, though I don't know what you're talking about, I have a feeling the Trilateral Commission and the CFR could get together and gangbang young boys on live television and people would say it was invented by some kooks, probably the same ones who rigged the alien autopsy video.
― dean ge, Saturday, 30 June 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)
Speaking of CFR, I just saw that bizarre interview with Aaron Russo where he says all that stuff about his friendship with Nicholas Rockefeller trying to get him into the CFR. Anyone else see this thing? Was Russo at some point credible and respected? I see that he's made an embarrassing movie about the IRS before consulting a good tax lawyer.
One surprising claim that came out of nowhere was that the CIA funded Gloria Steinem and Ms. Magazine. Supposedly Gloria admitted it, though I haven't been able to find any evidence of this admission. I found plenty of conspiracy sites asserting the claim, but so what. I don't care what the reason was, sinister or not, if it's true, then this supports the argument that the CIA is just a fuckin' weird organization that should be shut down. I hope they did not have anything to do with Tiger Beat.

It's from the Treason Abounds ~ Gov’t Cabal Plots North American Union (NAU) bit, which is just another piece along with with the Amero thing of the Global Unitary Government Conspiracy.
― libcrypt, Saturday, 30 June 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)
Damn, I found a much longer version (1 hr. 9 min.) of the Aaron Russo interview that totally sucked me in. He seems very genuine, but I suppose he could just be a very good liar.
― dean ge, Saturday, 30 June 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)
it's a metric system plot!
also... the currency should be called green quesos.... sam i am. m.
― msp, Saturday, 30 June 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)
Aaron Russo just said that the European people voted down both the European constitution and the Euro, which kind of proves the people in control don't care what people want. I am not in Europe, so I never thought about it. Were people all pissed about it?

No they didn't. It's Roger Adultry. Ge is a chinese last name that, apparently, ILXors like to compare to "gulberry."

NO, I don't mean that I'm Roger. I meant that if you Google Roger Manalishi, the first result is the Manalishi Gun Control thread which right away indicates that Manalishi is Roger Adultry. The Trilateral Commission didn't take it off Google.
