Cameron Crowe is gross
Do we really not have an Elizabethtown thread? I just saw it, and as a Crowe fan in general I have to say it and Vanilla Sky make me hate hate hate him. I don't even know where to start.

Actually, I do: On his cross-country road trip, he spreads part of his father's ashes at the Lorraine Motel?

Where, of course, the soundtrack briefly lapses into "Pride (In the Name of Love."

Also, dude: Girls who make mix CDs for guys don't put "(single version)" after appropriate song titles.

wait, there's a scene in a Cameron Crowe movie prominently involving rock music?
― da croupier, Saturday, 8 December 2007 06:08 (seventeen years ago)
I had managed to forget about this film, until now. Still, it produced one of Kermode's all-time greatest rants, in which he compares the cinema-going experience of a seeing it to a scene in Problem Child 2 involving vomit.

Cameron Crowe's most over-indulgent use of music in a film that still kind of works...

usually i like seeing movies set in/shot in louisville and kentucky, but i will make an exception to never, ever, ever in my life see this bullshit.

has anybody seen this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wild_Life_%28film%29
I randomly picked up the soundtrack and it is an odd artifact

i remember it from the time but haven't seen it in forever, i remember being disappointed cuz it was supposed to be like fast times only wilder and it was not, thirty year old memory from watching it as a ten year old but it reminded me more of something like linklater's suburbia, life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone, etc. it was sadder than what i was looking for at the time that's for sure.
meanwhile i had heard elizabethtown was bad but - Actually, I do: On his cross-country road trip, he spreads part of his father's ashes at the Lorraine Motel?

The Wild Life is on youtube btw

I saw the Wild Life right when it came out, hoping for another Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I remember thinking Chris Penn was good--after which he seemed to disappear until Pulp Fiction--and that Lee Ving got off a line that my friend and I loved. But Fast Times, it wasn't.

Didn't realize Crowe had a Joni Mitchell film coming out (I should have--there was some clip of somebody well known doing a Mitchell song on late-night, like she was auditioning for the part).
