Foreign Keyboards

You know when you go into an Internet cafe abroad and you find that the keyboard is laid out differently to the way it is back home? In what country have you found the keyboard most difficult to use? Where is the keyboard layout better/worse than what you're used to?

Probably Japanese Mac laptops. Couldn't get a handle on the different function keys. Other than that, I don't have much of a problem with AZERTY/QWERTY. I can switch easily between those two.

Yes, with my ex's Japanese Mac, I found that the alphabet kept switching itself, even when I thought it was set to Roman.

I bought my Powerbook in Japan, and made sure that they switched the keyboard to the US one. I remember having a hard time at an expensive internet cafe in Paris.

You mean they actually *installed* a diff keyboard? Never thought of that. Instead I ordered an ibook and sent it to my mum (from here).

I remember trying to write an email when I was in Belgium and getting stuck on simple stuff like 'where's the @ symbol?

Yeah, I don't know why they had to invent a special keyboard. Maybe because we're like... special.

during my time in Dvorak...

I knew there must've been a reason.

"You mean they actually *installed* a diff keyboard?"

Yeah, it took an extra 30 minutes, but it was so worth it. I went and had a drink, went back to the Apple store and took her home.

Even UK keyboards are different to Aus ones (which are presumably the same as US ones?). I never could work that one out, but the subtle diffs threw me.

Yeah, French ones were a huge pain in the balls.

In Soviet Russia, keyboard presses YOU!
