Abbott, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 02:22 (nineteen years ago)

according to mapquest, my walk to work is approximately 1.88 miles. so round trip is a little under 4. a lot more hardcore than i thought.

Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 02:37 (nineteen years ago)

With the new job, five blocks each way. .72 miles total.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 02:42 (nineteen years ago)

With gym time, upwards of eight miles.
Without (But with dog), certainly at least four to five daily.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 02:51 (nineteen years ago)

Some days only from where I park to my work, but I just mapped it on google and roundtrip that's 0.8 miles.. I go for longer walks pretty often though - 5 miles yesterday.

I should try and do that every day really..

daria-g, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 02:59 (nineteen years ago)

Pathetically, most days to car & back. I don't even walk much around the office. I do try to walk more on the weekends, around one park loop is ~2.5 miles. Still, not nearly enough.

Jaq, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 03:16 (nineteen years ago)

i guesstimated .75 miles, and a gmaps pedometer reading puts me at .79. That's really just to work, the sandwich shop or grocery store, and back. A lot of days I walk a lot more than that, like if I walk over to the girl's place or go shopping. Prolly averages about a mile, mile and a quarter.

kenan, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 03:32 (nineteen years ago)

I dont drive and the tram stop's just under a km from my house so thats 2km on its own plus walking around at lunchtime, and to and from the shops when I have to. I'd say I average 3km a day (on working days).

Trayce, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 03:40 (nineteen years ago)

And yet somehow, I am completely fucking unfit.

Trayce, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 03:43 (nineteen years ago)

but OH those calves!

kenan, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 03:46 (nineteen years ago)

Ugh, let's see...my bedroom to my desk is about 25 feet... desk to kitchen is about 20 feet...desk to bathroom is about 35 feet... I'm so sluglike, I'm surprised I don't leave a slime trail when I move.

The vacation in Amsterdam is going to fuckin' kill me.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 03:49 (nineteen years ago)

Hey, how do you know what my calves look like K? ;P

Trayce, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 04:10 (nineteen years ago)

around 600-2400 metres

Heave Ho, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 04:23 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know what to choose! I don't walk much outside of the 3 to 4 days a week that I walk 5 miles on my treadmill. Does it count if I don't go anywhere?!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 04:33 (nineteen years ago)

I think I'm somewhere around 2 miles.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 04:37 (nineteen years ago)

How can anyone only walk 600m a day? Surely you'd walk more than that just going around the house and down to the corner store?

Trayce, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 05:06 (nineteen years ago)

perhaps i've got the wrong idea of how long 100 metres is

Heave Ho, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 05:09 (nineteen years ago)

Its less than you'd think! 1km is only a 10 minute walk.

Trayce, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 06:59 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe less, I walk like a retarded sloth.

Trayce, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 06:59 (nineteen years ago)

Sheesh, I don't know, depends on where I have to be and I run/walk around the shop quite a bit as well. Also do a daily walk with the dog as well.

nathalie, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 08:22 (nineteen years ago)

Probably somewhat over 2 miles. In the summer heat this slays me.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

As little as possible.

Laurel, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 13:42 (nineteen years ago)

Train stations to house/office and back - probably about a mile and a half all told in good weather.

This is pathetic. I used to walk 4 miles every day as a matter of course, often much more. When I was poor and couldn't afford the bus. When I didn't have a job to get to. These two things were related, yes.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

3.2km is my normal walk to work and to the store after work. If, like today I go to the bank at lunchtime it can easily be 6km and it often goes higher.

Ed, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

Dunno about 4 miles a day I guess. I had one of those step-o-meters, 13,500 steps was my record.

jel --, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

A couple of miles, probably. I don't measure or anything, of course.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:09 (nineteen years ago)

On days when I run or go to the gym, a few miles. Otherwise, car & back.

Jordan, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:11 (nineteen years ago)

Between a half mile and two miles per day, depending.

Michael White, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

over 5, i love to walk.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:24 (nineteen years ago)

Around four, having just done Google distance measurements on my home-station-work and reverse, but possibly more at weekends I think. Walking a dose or two of swimming a week is pretty much the only excerise I get.

Do those of us in large cities walk more?

Anna, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:41 (nineteen years ago)

Yes.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

it is only 100 ft from my metro stop to my house. it is only .2 mile from my work to the metro stop! but, i walk everywhere else besides work. just walking to my normal hang out (besides the "i am super lazy and just want one beer so i GUESS i'll go here" place i hate is 1.5 miles) so i'm not too worried. i guessed i average around 2 per day due to days i randomly decide to walk home from work or the amount of going out i do. i'd walk TO work if i actually got up anything approaching on time ever.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 11 July 2007 16:50 (nineteen years ago)

I just walked to Kyoto and back from my office.

1.6 miles, per google maps.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 17:43 (nineteen years ago)

Except they actually show a slightly shorter route.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 17:44 (nineteen years ago)

Just over a mile home from work every day. I'm sure I do another mile or so if you add up getting to the bus stop in the morning and the lunchtime tour of the shops.

Madchen, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

about 25 minutes each way. google maps says 1.2 but i normally take the long-cut through the park (which it doesn't understand) so i figured 3 in total.
