Seeing the Bill & Ted thread revived has encouraged me to make this most necessary poll. I've taken the liberty to add historical figures from the future because without Rufus this poll would be bogus. Anyway, party on!

kingfish, Thursday, 12 July 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

this is hard

Jordan, Thursday, 12 July 2007 17:40 (eighteen years ago)

voting for the big man tho it was tough against napoleon

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:08 (eighteen years ago)

Genghis Khan in sports gear vs. Beethoven on synths?!

Jordan, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

Alex Winter should have been included as an option.

John Justen, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

so-crates, duh

freewheel, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

when you think about it it makes total sense for clarence to be the future emperor of the future

max, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

imdb tells me that the other two important folks are the singers from the Tubes and the Motels.

kingfish, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:25 (eighteen years ago)

When the change was made uptown
And the Big Man joined THE FUTURE

max, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:27 (eighteen years ago)

I want to vote for Napoleon, who got an obviously great Zigy piggy badge but I feel that would be letting down all the other peoples. Bob Genghis Khan is great too. And So-crates was just so enjoyable, especially when he was playing catch with Billy the Kid in medieval England! This is like Sophie's choice, only with 13 children, not only two ;_;

Jibe, Thursday, 12 July 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

i voted Napoleon but it should've been Socrates

latebloomer, Thursday, 12 July 2007 23:29 (eighteen years ago)

Dust + Wind + Dude = So-Crates

Hurting 2, Thursday, 12 July 2007 23:33 (eighteen years ago)

so-CRAH-tays

gabbneb, Thursday, 12 July 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

Voted Genghis, just for the introductory shot where you see Alex Winter's arm hold out a half-unwrapped twinkie in the foreground. "Hey Genghis Khan, want a trinkie?"

kingfish, Thursday, 12 July 2007 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

i still get goosebumps when i watch the climactic scene where they give thier "report."

gr8080, Thursday, 12 July 2007 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

i believe it's "Historical Babes"

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Thursday, 12 July 2007 23:41 (eighteen years ago)

"Two Heads Are Better Than One" is one of my all-time favourite songs.
Jane Weidlin as hott Joan Of Arc over Wolfie Smith's dad as So-crates? I'm torn.

Matt #2, Friday, 13 July 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)

im goin for abe. he saved their asses in the end.

chaki, Friday, 13 July 2007 00:42 (eighteen years ago)

i voted genghis.

his sporting goods store rampage moved me in ways no other film could at that young age.

gr8080, Friday, 13 July 2007 00:44 (eighteen years ago)

Napoleon edges in over Socrates due to composure after being kicked out of the bowling alley, and the wonderment in the first waterslide encounter.

S-, Friday, 13 July 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

MERDE MERDE MERDE MERDE MERDE MERDE MERDE MERDE MERDE

marmotwolof, Friday, 13 July 2007 01:36 (eighteen years ago)

Napoleon is also great because of his horrible French. Loveable little dude he is. Sacrebleu!

Jibe, Friday, 13 July 2007 08:40 (eighteen years ago)

I love the way he says "Excuse-moi monsieur" to the bowling alley guy, and then "Paid? Bud-dee?"

marmotwolof, Friday, 13 July 2007 08:52 (eighteen years ago)

"PETIT!" and he gets all pissed off.

Jibe, Friday, 13 July 2007 08:53 (eighteen years ago)

Also, has there been a poll on the best/favourite/funnest/whatver time-travel movies? If not, somebody should definitely do one, i cant, as apart from this, back to the future and butterfly effect (it is a time travel right? or do alternate realities not count as tilme travel?) i cant come up with any.

Jibe, Friday, 13 July 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

oo you send me, you take me to the Rush Hour

Alan, Friday, 13 July 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

Up until right now, I always thought all the songs played throughout the movie were supposed to be Wyld Stallions songs.

billstevejim, Sunday, 15 July 2007 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

"In Time" is the only one that's supposed to be theirs, right? They hear it in the future. Then they cover Argent (Kiss covering Argent) in Bogus Journey.

marmotwolof, Sunday, 15 July 2007 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

every time hear "aerodynamic" by daft punk i picture dave beethoven on synth rocking out again

marmotwolof, Sunday, 15 July 2007 07:16 (eighteen years ago)

hstencil, Sunday, 15 July 2007 07:33 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Monday, 16 July 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Napoleon by a landslide? I dont think so, So-crates, for one, might upset the little man.

Bogus Journey >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Excellent Adventure

Alex in Baltimore, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

Socrates

Tom D., Tuesday, 17 July 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

also I'm voting for Beethoven because now every time I read his name I pronounce it as "beet oven" in my head.

Alex in Baltimore, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

pre-heroin Keanu should have been included as an option.

This and Feeling Minnesota are the only Keanu movies I've turned off after 20 minutes, tho I'd certainly have walked outta Johnny Mnemonic if I hadn't paid $9.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

ah, crap. I voted for Socrates and then saw the Napoleon ice cream jpg.

poortheatre, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

"...he was a dick!"

kingfish, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

turned off after 20 minutes

"They do get better."

marmotwolof, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

Bogus Journey >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Excellent Adventure
Only if you are talking about the soundtracks.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

no, I'm talking about how awesome the Grim Reaper is in that movie. "you sunk my battleship! best of five?"

Alex in Baltimore, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 19:53 (eighteen years ago)

Out of curiosity, I just popped in the DVD to see what 20 minutes in is. It's Rufus saying, "Gentlemen, you're on your own." right before they find out Napoleon hitched a ride on the phone booth. So right when it starts getting really good.

marmotwolof, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

surprise victory, it seems

kingfish, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 23:02 (eighteen years ago)

Surprise victory indeed. I feel very sad for Billy the Kid though. He adapted to time travel so well and was such a fun dude, he really should have got a few votes

Jibe, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

This and Feeling Minnesota are the only Keanu movies I've turned off after 20 minutes

Shame, you missed the homage to Bergman's Seventh Seal then.

Billy Dods, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

that was Bogus Journey. duh.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

Wasn't Rufus the guy from the future? He isn't an historical figure then.

Tuomas, Thursday, 19 July 2007 11:06 (eighteen years ago)

He is in the future future.

two years pass...

"why do you claim I'm NOT sigmund freud?"

So great

ryan, Monday, 17 May 2010 14:28 (fifteen years ago)

Bill: It is indeed a pleasure to introduce to you a gentleman we picked up in medieval Mongolia in the year 1269.
Ted: Please welcome, the very excellent barbarian...
Ted, Bill: ...MR. GENGHIS KHAN!
[All the students applaud wildly for Khan]
Ted: This is a dude who, 700 years ago, totally ravaged China, and who, we were told, 2 hours ago, totally ravaged Oshman's Sporting Goods.

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Monday, 17 May 2010 15:00 (fifteen years ago)

what a great movie. really in the pantheon of american comedies.

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Monday, 17 May 2010 15:01 (fifteen years ago)

Def a great movie. As soon as exams are over I'm watching both movies.

Jibe, Monday, 17 May 2010 15:09 (fifteen years ago)

It was on TV about a month ago; totally stands up to re-watching.

I remember seeing Bogus Journey in the theatre aged about 11. This was back in the days where they still did intermissions, and the break happened during the fall down to hell; when the movie started up again, they were still falling. Awesome.
