.. and "look beautiful"?
Metaphorically, literally, or alternatively.
What was that one thing that turned you from being forever, um, how you were, and made you "how you are now"?
I'd dabbled with contact lenses back in 1987, hard-gaspermiable ones. But they made my eyes sore, and one time had a nasty reaction to the liquid which only lasted 30mins, but when you think yr eye is going to EXPLODE it kind of puts you off..
Found soft lenses, never looked back. Now, I find people understand me better as my facial communication isn't hidden as much, and I find I like how I look more now.
(what was your umm, thing? Beard? hair colouring? etc)?

Still wearing them in all three senses, I think.

girls in glasses are hot
― 696, Friday, 13 July 2007 08:43 (eighteen years ago)
well, hot girls in glasses are hot, anyway
― 696, Friday, 13 July 2007 08:44 (eighteen years ago)
i dont really like the others ones so much
I'd refine that further--hot girls in hot glasses are hot. Got to be thick framed, and preferably with a big fat D&G on the side.
― aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Friday, 13 July 2007 09:08 (eighteen years ago)
I read that as "D&D" and was like WHERE CAN I FIND THIS MYTHICAL GIRL

i've always been gorgeous, i can't help it
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 13 July 2007 12:46 (eighteen years ago)
YAY!
Oh. :-(
I wore glasses until the age of about 12, when I had my second eye operation (which gave me two scarred eyeballs. This year I realized that I really needed'em again after mistaking some woman for my grandmother and being unable to really read anything on telly (like subtitles).
To be honest I agree with my friend who said (when I was 14), "Honestly, you look better with glasses." At the time I was angry, but now I console (hah!) myself with that compliment finally admitting she's/was probably right.
― nathalie, Friday, 13 July 2007 12:50 (eighteen years ago)
I think I metaphorically "took off my glasses" when I decided to quit aiming at being super skinny and instead went with the natural curves that my mama gave me. Dressing for big boobs and baby-making hips made me look like a woman instead of a lanky girl. This not only made me more comfortable with myself but got me way more attention.
― ni jo leeeeeee, Friday, 13 July 2007 12:54 (eighteen years ago)
i've been told i look better with glasses too. kinda bummed me out at first, but i have to wear my glasses all the time and i'm too cheap to get contacts, so i guess it's ok.
― Rubyred, Friday, 13 July 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)
Yes, now I don't get the 'why the long face" comment anymore.
― nathalie, Friday, 13 July 2007 12:59 (eighteen years ago)
I put my glasses on.
― Ms Misery, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:02 (eighteen years ago)
Ironically, I looked better when I started wearing glasses - because I didn't squint so much, and therefore didn't look so bad-tempered all the time.
For me, it was when I was about 23, 24 (oops, I mean 22 for the second and third time) and moved to NYC, away from the beautiful friend who had always cast me into "plain kid sister" territory.
Also, away from smalltown mentality, wearing outrageous clothes and being around artists pretending to be madmen and madmen pretending to be artists, my personality and aesthetic for the first time seemed OK, an asset rather than a liability.
Dressed up like Anita Pallenberg, started playing bass in a garage rock band, and suddenly I couldn't beat the boys off with a stick. (fnar.)
It lasted for about 10 years. But now I'm back to being the ugly sexless lump I was in high school again. :-( I need to find those glasses again.
― Klaus M. Flanger, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:08 (eighteen years ago)
I took my glasses off in high school over a stubborn couple of years when I wanted to make it clear to my parents that I really would like contacts please thanks very much. I stopped wearing them in school in ninth grade and toughed out headaches and squinting and etc. Finally got 'em and loved 'em for some ten years, but in the mid-nineties an annoying little callus under my left eyelid had developed, and essentially every time I blinked with the lenses in, it hurt. You can guess how often this hurt.
I had always had a pair of glasses as a backup so I started wearing them regularly again. Which prompted my girlfriend at the time to talk about how hot I apparently looked with them on. Never looked back, obv.
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:15 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, contacts are teh ouch. Get a pair of flattering frames and you'll be much better off. Plus, it's another accessory you can play with (if you've got the do-re-mi.)
― Oilyrags, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:18 (eighteen years ago)
lol i still teh ugly after all these years
― Ste, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

― Rubyred, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)
I stayed 'innocent' as long as I did bcz of aviator glasses
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)
PUT ON THE GLASSES!
― The Real Dirty Vicar, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:28 (eighteen years ago)
I look *weird* without glasses on, Ive worn them for so many years. I tried contacts for a while but I like my specs, they're part of what makes me me, now.
As for the general get hottt look, it was when I started with the bob cuts and black hairdye that I think I really found my thang, and now I'm quite happy with how I look.
― Trayce, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

― That one guy that hit it and quit it, Friday, 13 July 2007 13:36 (eighteen years ago)
I still wear glass and love them. Methaphorically speaking I took them off about four years ago when I got tired of hating how I looked and lost 30 pounds. I've gained about 10 back but am still much happier and more confident. It's made a world of difference.
― ENBB, Friday, 13 July 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)
i am too scared of contacts not to wear 'em. thank god for emo right.
― That one guy that hit it and quit it, Friday, 13 July 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)
I've been going through the "whole new me" process for most of 2007 so far, lost a bunch of weight and got contacts, hopefully i can quit smoking soon, too.
― elmo argonaut, Friday, 13 July 2007 14:47 (eighteen years ago)
I'm still wearing mine. I tried contacts for a bit, but didn't seem to make any difference wrt attractiveness. Getting better glasses helped, though.
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 13 July 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)
My eyes are such that contacts can't correct them enough to be worthwhile: thankfully I like my glasses, and they seem to suit me alright.
I don't think I've metaphorically "taken off my glasses" so far: i effect a mild image-change every two years or so (cut all my hair off, start wearing skirts, that sort of thing) but it's never some kind of personality-freeing-now-i-am-a-magnet thing. Helps stave off the boredom, though.
― c sharp major, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)
I look hawt in my glasses, i'll have you know! Metaphorically I guess in my early 20's when i got a decent haircut and stopped wearing skinny puppy shirts.
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)
I always wear my glasses - except for many photos, because I always worry they will glare funny. I did wear contacts for a while; the last day I wore them was my wedding day. I hated them.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)
I wore glasses from about 6/7 years old until about 16 when I got contacts. Now at 29, I mostly wear glasses again. But thank goodness I can have peripheral vision when I need it.
Yeah and also it iss fun to be able to "disguise" yourself and play with your appearance, though I've had a beard for almost two years now and it no longer feels like a disguise. I might grow my hair long again. Or get some wigs.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:05 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah metaphorically I guess when I was about 24 when I finally stopped being all "I'm not interested in fashion. But why don't girls like me?" and got some (relatively) decent clothes.
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:05 (eighteen years ago)
why do you have a beard?
― RJG, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)
I don't! Oh wait.
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)
got glasses in grade 3 wore recspecs for soccer/basketball got contacts in grade 9 got disposable contacts in the late 90s
― mookieproof, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)
I like it. It makes me look like a crazy rabbi. Also it feels in keeping with symmetry, to have hair on the lower part of your face as well as the upper. But I sense this is all a setup for some RGJism like "beards are rubbish" and so on.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)
no
― RJG, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)
I was just interested
OK, well I recommend it. You seem to be able to pull off most things so maybe you should try it (perhaps you already have?). I'd feel boring without my beard now. Though I did shave it off once because I had to attend a focus group on razors.
But anyway, it did feel quite good to "take off my glasses" when I was a teenager, even if I just did it because I thought it would get girls to talk to me more. Now of course we're all growed up and as 696 said, girls in glasses are fantastic really.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)
my beard is a bit rubbish
― RJG, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)
i think about getting glasses even tho i don't need them
― blueski, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:25 (eighteen years ago)
I don't trust people who don't wear glasses.
― Klaus M. Flanger, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:26 (eighteen years ago)
Surely I'm not the only person who is bearded by default due to laziness?
― Oilyrags, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)
There is that aspect, but I trim it a couple of times a week which is quite difficult to get right.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)
i'm not THAT lazy but close
― blueski, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)
The "mountain man" look doesn't really suit my personality, nor does designer stubble, so I must tread a steady line.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)
Nah, so am I.
― Ms Misery, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)
LOL
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)
and a guy I said had a beard on some thread that was really funny
― RJG, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)
I trim on Mondays, and it's easy-peasy with the right appliance. I also sometimes shave from slightly below the chin to the collarbone on Fridays (to avoid this situation.)
― Oilyrags, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)
My trimmer sends tiny hairs flying everywhere like grasscuts from a lawnmower. Do they all do this or is it (as is very possible) me being stupid?
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)
I've never had that problem. Whiskerbits seem to waft more or less straight down into the sink.
― Oilyrags, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)
Oh no, it's me, isn't it? I knew it. It's always this way.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:39 (eighteen years ago)
do you have coiled springs for a beard?
― Oilyrags, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)
No, but it is possible that my beard is quite thick.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)
arrghhh! my boyfriend leaves these all over the bathroom. I hate cleaning them up bite my tongue b/c I know you could make a carpet from all the long hairs I leave in my wake.
― Ms Misery, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)
I do my best to get rid of them, but it is a trial.
― admrl, Friday, 13 July 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)
Mine fly everywhere too. I think i'm halfway between the "designer beard" and "lazy beard".
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)
direct correlation between getting contacts and getting laid ---> contacts >>> glasses
― Just got offed, Friday, 13 July 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)
my boyfriend leaves these all over the bathroom. I hate cleaning them up bite my tongue
I'm I the only one who read this as "I hate cleaning them up with my tongue?"
― Phil D., Friday, 13 July 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)
for me, "getting rid of my glasses" just meant "learning how to dress and geting NEW glasses that are current and not the worst looking things ever."
it's been about 6 years and all is lovely
― Will M., Friday, 13 July 2007 18:02 (eighteen years ago)
I like my glasses and would wear them more if I didn't need sunglasses all the time to drive. I don't go for the color-change lenses, giving away too much control.
― tremendoid, Friday, 13 July 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)
i think i 'took off my glasses' the first time i smoked w33d in highschool - not just ooh i am such a rebel/not-a-kid thing but more a WHOA the WORLD kind of adult consciousness (which i guess is both good and bad but it was gonna happen anyway)
― rrrobyn, Friday, 13 July 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)
i need new actual glasses mine are old and bleah and i never wear them except on my bike even though i need to see better and further in most circumstances maybe contacts though they seem like a hassel, but that is the way vanity will lead me eventually i am sure
why are girls with glasses hott? because they are.
― mookieproof, Friday, 13 July 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)
Cumming on a girl with glasses' face is both about protection of the girl's eyes and the satisfaction of you. The customer who cums.
Who should join this site?
It is a pretty narrow target segment. Either you love a good jizz on some glasses, or you don't.
Is it safe to join the site?
Yep, like all the sites I recommend, this is also an established site based in the US and following the rules of FTC etc.

i think i look kinda ug in glasses but i hate the feel of contact lenses. guess lasik is my only option if i want to be attractive. :(
― homosexual II, Friday, 13 July 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)
I've given up on contacts (again - 3rd time). My favorite ones made my eyes greenish hazel. Too much air travel, working in dry dusty places where I have to wear safety glasses anyway, having to wear reading glasses on top of contacts for distance vision = just not worth it any more. Can unused contacts be donated? Anyway, after 3 weeks of eyestrain headaches, vertigo, and thinking maybe I'd had a small stroke, I finally went to the eye doctor and found my vision had improved so my glasses are too strong. Fancy new frames next week (giving progressives a try although they made me puke 4 years ago, anti-glare, and photo-gray), and prescrip sunnies too.
― Jaq, Friday, 13 July 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)
I dig girls in glasses too. I'm a speccy twat myself though. Probably narcisism.
― Colonel Poo, Saturday, 14 July 2007 01:16 (eighteen years ago)
Curt1s I worry about how yoy find the sites you dig up sometimes I really do.

Got spectacles at 16 after a good 5 years of stubborn denial that there was anything wrong with my eyes. Got contacts at 18. Have alternated ever since. Lately I've been wearing the contacts in an effort to combat the chubby-balding-techie-dork box that I have fallen into over the last 7 years. Mid-90s Tantrum, with his clubby clothes & boyband haircut, would have a heart attack if he could see into the future.
