Quick Question About Courier, Times New Roman and MLA

If I use Courier to write an MLA term paper (I've been told it is only acceptable to use Times New Roman or Courier) do I have to use 10 size font instead of 12?

Because it looks bigger to me.

Because it is. Times New Roman was designed specifically to fit more text into less space. So it's smaller.

Interesting note: italics were invented for the same reason.

Courier 10pt looks ok to me on paper. 12pt, I agree is way huge. I dunno... whatever looks most like a typewriter is prolly what they're expecting.
