moments of self conscious antagonism towards the ilm-critical hivemind or whatever

and what, Friday, 20 July 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)

i think the ultimate in this would be patrin

and what, Friday, 20 July 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)

well, gee. i like indie. what more do i need to say.

electricsound, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:10 (eighteen years ago)

i don't understand either. but i love that cartoon

Ste, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)

Only about half of that original list, if that, is that contradictory towards the ILM hivemind at any time in its history.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:15 (eighteen years ago)

The ultimate in this is probably Alex In NYC circa 2002.

Matt DC, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

that is a very ilm-friendly list.

scott seward, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

Depends on whose ILM standards you use, Scott. ;-)

nathalie, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:18 (eighteen years ago)

i heard a version of natural mystic the other day on the radio not by bob marley and it sounded so cool. a reggae version. it was way better than bob's.

scott seward, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:20 (eighteen years ago)

i'm just saying that a LOT of the people on that list are beloved by lots of ILMers. except for maybe bob marley. and i don't know what devotchka is.

scott seward, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:22 (eighteen years ago)

That list has credibility.

kenan, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:23 (eighteen years ago)

its this thing

don't bother with it

you dumbnuts. Dave Matthews Band are the most talented group out there from the last 20 years. Most of you havent heard an entire album or seen them in concert. So what if some fans use dmb as make out music. At least some of us can get chicks!

"hike up your dress a little more/ and show your world to me:" is a funny line. dont you guys like humor in your music? do you have to really take music so seriously? its only music. I like music as much as the next guy but why do you hate a band so much. At least they play their instruments and write their own songs. Unlike those Pop idol 'artists'.
As for yuppies /lawyers/accountants liking them so what? Is that a reason to hate a band?
Why not hate the overhyped Nirvana, the WORST thing to ever happen to music. They were rubbish at their instruments, Kurt couldnt sing , He was a junkie. They spawned a million of horrible 'indie & alternative' bands meaning an entire generation missed out on bands whoc ould actually play!

This is me on like every Bright Eyes thread through maybe '04 but its more like "shut up, Ned!"

bnw, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

That's not hivemind, it's just classic.

kenan, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

Dig up the "100 reasons why 'Ignition (Remix)' is awesome" thread and you get to see me make Matt Perpetua cybercry.

HI DERE, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

Ethan, if this thread is about posting your "early" anti-hivemind moments then why did you post someone else's?

da croupier, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

My biggest doozy is that anti-intellectualism thread, a complaint ILM has been making ironic ever since.

da croupier, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

I thought your biggest doozy was Limp Bizkit!

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

I guess I'm just thinking of the ones I actually regret.

da croupier, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

you've both grown up so much.

Wow, I'd never thought I'd say this, but Freddie looks fetching.

nathalie, Friday, 20 July 2007 15:56 (eighteen years ago)

omg I hadn't seen that pic. I luv u, Scott.

da croupier, Friday, 20 July 2007 16:47 (eighteen years ago)

btw I need to e-mail you about your marooned piece. So good!

da croupier, Friday, 20 July 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)

There was only one "Shut up" part in his old list, why is everyone judging the list on the whole for its "SHUT UP THE LOT OF YOU"-ness? It's the Sufjan Stevens one with brackets beside it.

Me, I've never been against the hivemind-- but I don't get too close to ILM anyway because, well, I haven't listened to much recently (and when I do I oddly no long have the urge to know what others think about it-- usually I don't even 'like' what I am listening to, but I try and 'give it a chance' until I still feel the same about it but am familiar with it. I think I lost the love for teh muzik.)

Will M., Friday, 20 July 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

Jaymc wins.

(Also I remember what I was doing on that very day which is a bit weird)

Matt DC, Saturday, 21 July 2007 00:10 (eighteen years ago)

Will, get one different music.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 21 July 2007 00:14 (eighteen years ago)
