I don't have Microsoft Word on this computer and I'm trying to submit my final paper to this online class on Blackboard.
It only accepts these files:
MS Word, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF, and plain text
Anyone have any advice? I'm sure its really simple but I'm not sure how to do it...
Thanks.

what about rich text format? i had the same problem when i tried emailing my last essay. i almost lost all the formatting. i'm so computer-retarded i didn't know that the shitty microsoft works program on my laptop was entirely useless.

if you go to 'save as', it should give you the rich text format option from there.

or cut and paste to wordpad for .txt

Not the same, but seems to be the closest thread. I found a site today that will, at no cost, convert jpg scans into regular Word text:
http://www.onlineocr.net/
I swear I searched for something that would do that a few months ago and came up empty. Anyway, I've tried it, and it actually works, getting 99% of the text right. This is a big deal for me. It's going to a) make something I've been working on much, much easier, b) probably help a friend with something he's about to embark on, and c) allow me to go back and scan stuff I wrote 20 years ago and get it onto my homepage. (The point being, I hate having to keyboard anything in from scratch at this point in my life.) I can even see, when I retire five years from now, getting all the issues of my old fanzine online...provided the both the site and I are still functional by then. The site's a better bet.
If you've thought about doing anything similar with old print text, maybe this will help.
