Ha, I just went downstairs to look at that one. I couldn't remember what it was called. It's excellent and probably should have been on the list as it is primarily about the A40.

Tim Cahill?

admrl, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah right. And not even about a single road. Come on!

I'm surprised there aren't more American books. I know there are a quite a few on Route 66. There most be others.

As for London Orbital, that's great but there's just not enough M25 in it for me. The Sights guides are completely geeky and great, all about how much grain various warehouses you can see can hold and who lives in that farmhouse. If you enjoyed Robinson in Space (the film rather than the book) you'll enjoy those. I think.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Saturday, 28 July 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Shit, that double or triple-decker grilled cheese upthread does look really appealing. I used to own a copy of the Sterns' book "The Encyclopedia of Bad Taste", which was great...so I'm thinking that if their roadfood expertise approaches their authoritativeness when it comes to kitsch, they can be more than trusted.

Their Roadfood column every month is my favorite part of Gourmet.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 29 July 2007 00:20 (eighteen years ago)

no kerouac, no credibility

hstencil, Sunday, 29 July 2007 00:35 (eighteen years ago)

hstencil, Sunday, 29 July 2007 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

better, thanks. Good enough for XBox football in short bursts, not good enough to read for long yet

milo z, Sunday, 29 July 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

good!

hstencil, Sunday, 29 July 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)
