You wet shave a cat before an operation, so vacuuming would seem pretty useless to me. But maybe modern technology has changed the pre-op procedure...

I think this is the first time in 3 years here I ever said "WHAT THE FUCK!?" out loud while reading ILX.

I found out the reason doggies & kitties hate vacuums so much: not because they think they're BIG SCARY MONSTERS, but because the whirring gears make extremely irritating high frequency sounds not audible to us humans.

After vacuuming, make sure to bring pet from lowest of lows to highest of highs with special pet treats. At least, that is what I like to do.
