I hope this never catches on because I hate having to do things in the morning. I skip breakfast and I only grudgingly shower/brush teeth/put on clothes. I shave at night cos it grows in weak enough.

Oh man, I do not want to live in a world where even men are better-groomed than I am. I only wear eye makeup, and that's like 2x a week.

Man, Louis, you need to work on your lipstick application, and possibly use lipliner.

I had a huge bruise covering half my face from a bike accident when I first moved here. Man, maybe that was a time I wish I had face makeup. Shit just feels like a gooey parasite.

The main rub of the bruise, which looked pretty badass in a way, was going in to job interviews & the look they gave me the whole time was "why are you here and not at the battered women's escape shelter?"

see i'm a huge fan of makeup, girls, boys, whatever. i just think it's so neat, and pretty. and a woman putting makeup on before she goes out at night is really glamorous to me.

I can dig, I just really hate foundation & powder. They look bizarre and they make your face a totally different color than the rest of your body in phoitographs.

foundation i always found very bizarre, how some girls leave that line between their face and like their necks - the color difference is just compltely bizarre looking.

Yes! You just have to know what to wear, when to wear it, and have a light hand and good application technique.

I loved make-up on boys when I was a teenager. In fact, I made my first boyfriend let me put makeup on him and it was pretty hot. Now that I'm older it doesn't really appear to me that much anymore.

actually ENBB from ur photos it doesn't surprise me that you would like that kind of light touch with makeup - u seem like you would wear it to make your skin look incredibly clear and soft. light colors/textures.

Well, I ocassionally use concealer but that's about it as far as face stuff goes. I've never owned foundation although you're right about powder - it can be magical. I'm all about eye and lip makeup. Right now I'm obsessed with MAC but for me it's only a going out thing. I don't really wear much during the day at all - just mascara really.

OK - this afternoon I've revealed my two dorkiest obsessions. Medical oddities and expensive eyeshadows and lipsticks.

i have a bunch of cheap-o brand eye pencils and eyeshadow for zombie-costuming purposes, to good (i.e. grotesque) effect. however, residual red lip-liner around eyes a day later is not a very flattering look.

It may be a good excuse for a sick day, though.

I've been doing green eyeshadow w/purple eyeliner lately. I like kind of cinamonny colored lipsticks, and dusty rose colors...I feel like a goth or a Max Hardcore girl in anything else.

anyhow, i have always had pretty deep circles under my eyes that seem to persist despite every effort -- and they remain a deep slight to my vanity to this day, though i've learned to live with them. back in my most self-conscious high school days, i remember buying a concealer stick and trying some on, but i was so nervous that someone would notice that i was wearing make-up and call me out on it that i never wore it out in public.

CONFESSION: i once used a concealer stick or something like it to cover up my hideous adolescent acne

If you want eyeliner tips - go for gel based ones and apply with a brush - much easy to handle than liquid liner and looks much better than pencil. It stays on a lot longer too. MAC and Bobbi Brown make great ones but Loreal HIP just realeased a version that I've found to be the best yet.

Same here! I used to marvel at the Canberra summergoths, one girl wore a velvet cape with a hood in 90+F weather all the time when I was a teenager. I was never that ridiculous hardcore.

Eyeliner, lipstick and lipliner doesn't really bother me, but base/foundation I must admit creeps me out.

people can wear what makes them happy but i find obvious make-up on dudes a real turn-off. i would never wear anything more than a touch of concealer to hide the odd inconvenient blemish but then i have good skin etc and look great w/out it.

you're missing out. the feeling of a blush brush against your freshly moisturized cheek is like nothing else you will ever experience. the smooth pressure of a pencil liner on your eyelids, the perfect way to start the day. finish with a dab of nude lip conditioner, and a trace of gloss on the cupid's bow, and the morning is yours.

I think people associate boy-makeup with RAWK guys into metal/emo/whatevs rather than with androgyny or making your features look nicer.

am pondering some kind of concealer for the big liver-colored spots under my eyes. I was recently told that it looked like I'd been in a car accident. any recommendations/advice?

I would go to sephora and ask one of the consultants there. I hate, hate asking for help in stores but they usually will know the best thing for your skin tone and the area you want to conceal (and if you want it for everyday wear). And at least you can easily try on a bunch of different things there without feeling obligated to buy it.

They might recommend some type of night cream for under your eyes too. (hydration, sleep, blah blah)

Yeah, especially since it is so hard to match skin tone and make it look natural/invisible. I don't typically wear foundation or concealer but when I want to buy some, I just ask one of the salespeople at sephora (assuming there are ones where you are). They take a quick image of my skin and products come up that match it. They'll let you know too how to apply correctly and you can check it out in different lighting.

i just went to ulta for concealer and walked away with a product i liked + a brush set to apply it (and eyeshadow) with ease -- asking for help is the best way to do this. tell them what your priorities are (ease of use, cost, coverage, whatever) and you will be ok!

on the downside, the product i was sold is called "industrial strength concealer" (brand: benefit) but on the upside, if i use it i don't need any foundation or other coverage-type makeup so mission accomplished!

i was so shocked with the ease of application that tbh i actually thought about it being ok for men to try if they want to cover up a spot or dark circles or whatever

and also as i was checking out a male employee complimented my choice of brush set. i was pleased by the unisex feel of the makeup section at this particular store.

I totally did not know that Ulta had brick and mortar stores! I am so oblivious sometimes.

I was talking about the undereye circles, but I *do* have some major Maya Rudolph freckles on my cheeks. They're so prominent that I can't really conceal them, tho. It'd be like turning a leopard into a Labrador.
