gareth, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay! Can we go to a BAR *ducks*

N., Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

While this is of course a fab idea I am baffled that it came to Gareth on a day when ILE has gone totally MENTAL. What did you think - 'hmm, these guys are SO CRAZY I must go out for a beer with them'?

Emma, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BRING OUT YOUR CRAZIES!

N., Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can come along. Spiritually, at least.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How about my favourite and yours Gareth: the Embassy.

N., Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think there is a full moon this evening which would explain a lot.

Anna, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can only do Wednesday next week unfortunately, largely because I am going to a BAR!!!!! with some chums on Thursday. This prospect troubles me.

chris, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And N., we can have a bitch about 4ndy 80d|e.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ILE could drive a man to drink (but it doesn't have its license, HAW HAW HAW).

Dan Perry, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm out of the country on Wednesday night and on Thursday am hopefully going down the bootleg club (for which see another thread sometime).

Tom, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, thu 7th, Boot night. in the diary.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Have we done this before? I must have been drunk.

N., Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No we haven't. See yr e-mail. I only just made the connection. slow me.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm busy on wednesday (fridge gig), thursday (friend's birthday), friday (fourtet/manitoba djing at the embassy bar). but i guess the latter is already a bar. anyway, monday or tuesday wd suit me.

toby, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to have many beers tonight in honour of this thread

electric sound of jim, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

suggestions so far:

place. embassy bar. rival suggestions?

time. tuesday. or wednesday.

gareth, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Wednesday is pay day so Tuesday's out for me, but don't let me stop you, especially as I may well buy a PS2 on Wednesday on my way home.

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What is it with you lot and 'not just before pay day'. Have you never heard of credit cards?

Emma, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Will you buy me one too???

Sarah, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What? Who? Do you want me to buy you a credit card? You have to ask the nice Credit Card people and they will give it to you for FREE.

Emma, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I did the whole last going for a drink thing entirely on my credit card.

But then I am not sensible.

Anna, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Emma, credit cards = full until my redundancy comes along, plus this has been an expensive month what with paying for Atp and Forgotten mobile bills meaning I had to pay two months in one go! Still, I get an extra seven days pay on Wednesday, hence the ps2, get in!

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

how about the Dive Bar?

Alan T, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And look what happened to your credit card.

(Of course if you could look at what happened to said card then the very act of looking would tell you where you lost it, hance the loss would no longer be a problem).

Okay, instead of Emma's credit card idea, how about the evil that the under thirty may not speak : budgeting?

I can't do early doors Wednesday cos of quiz duties (ILE team will NOT win next week) but Tuesday looks possible. How about Babushkas on the Cally? Central, with nice roaring fire, is a bar and next to a canal. Lovely.

Pete, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, instead of Emma's credit card idea, how about the evil that the under thirty may not speak : budgeting?

not while I'm still in my twenties, no way!

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The other alternatives are: overdrafts; theft; being funded by a rich Sugar Daddy. I have only actually tried one of these.

Emma, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

when does your conviction get struck off the record Emma?

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Pete if we unfairly lose I have that as EVIDENCE. We will still rock up but if we win again we will let the second place team pick the specialist questions and then get us to another HARD CORE TYPE QUIZ - although god knows where.

Sarah, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Some time after they catch her I'm assuming.

Pete, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am still protest karaoke-ing instead because specialist subject is Lord of the motherfucking rings.

Alan T, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I would be a really bad thief for many reasons including my tendency to dissolve into hysterics at entirely the wrong moment.

Emma, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You must come to fridge on wednesday, gareth. Then maybe i'll explain why we didn't make it to nesh

Ed, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I will be in the chilly wasteland which is zone 7 on Tuesday evening. Northamptonshire... brrr... A new ground calls though.

I fear I may be washing my hair on Wednesday too, if *that* is the specialist round.

Tim, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Rushden and Diamonds Tim? Please report back, I want to hear of their "state of the art" ground.

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, sunny Irthlingborough (sp?). I had a quick look in the paper, and I think it'll be my sixtieth league ground. Hooray for me.

Tim, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, Irthlingborough. Home of Corus records office. Greetings Earthlings, we come in peace.

N., Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

60!! that's bloody good going. I'll find a paper and see what I'm on, will ex-league, now in the nether regions count?

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

a mere 35 for me.

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My calculations were based on the 91 current league grounds... I guess I've been to a few more ex-league / old stadia. But count whichever you'd like, as far as I'm concerned. Unsurprisingly, most of my gaps are in the top two divisions, *sigh*. Perhaps more surprisingly, my coverage of London grounds is poor at best.

Poss most tedious thread hijack EVAH!

Tim, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

there are at least 3 new reggae thread on ilm tim, why are you not there?

back to unhijacked beer!

gareth, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mainly because I can't really think of anything to say past "I like X" / "Y is great!", and I don't enjoy doing that very much. They're good threads though.

Hey, since the beaten down and terrorised shrinking pro-bar violets have found a non-threatening space here, do any of you have any opinions on the place called the Foundry around Old Street way? Keep meaning to go (partly for the B. Drummond connection, partly to see the International Society of Sloganeers show which is on there at the moment) but keep not getting around to it. What's it like?

Tim, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a bar question too, has anyone been to a bar in Shoreditch called Smersh? At the Norhern soul night last Friday I saw a flyer for a night that Bob Stanley does there.

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Smersh may well be the tiny red Vodka place we stumbled too after a night out in that area. I quite liked its ambience and sado- masochistically decorated toilets.

Pete, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have had some BEER at lunch so I think more BEER is a GRATE idea.

Sarah, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Right so what are we actually doing about this booze-up?

Can do Wednesday but not Tuesday (due to non-ILx connected booze-up at Sun and Doves).

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Have been drinking recently at Duke of York pub in Clerkenwell Road. Good guinness, and jukebox was as follows: the original of Police and Thieves, lots of Iggy, Underworld, etc. And Thai food of reasonable quality for the hungry.

suzy, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

so where and when?? i'd like to put another bid in for tuesday...

toby, Sunday, 3 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)
