remember the episode where alvin has to teach theodore all of american history in one night and it includes stuff like columbus sailing off the edge of the world and the pilgrims trying to sell the indians t-shirts? i'm pretty sure that episode eventually led to me becoming a history major. thanks a lot alvin!

Oh man, no, that episode pissed me the fuck off. He wasn't teaching Theodore bu the third chubby, food-obsessed one. And he helped him remember the stuff on the test with food related mnemonics like "General George CUSTARD." Man, even as a kid, I knew they managed to find the maybe two or three total punny food names of American history, spanning randomly throughout time with no connection other than, you know, food names. "A history lesson would never be taught in such a random manner," I thought. Even back then, I was a budding fun-hater.

i was about to be all sourpuss like, i bet nerds with fond memories of the old-ass original 60s(?) cartoon shat a brick over the 80s one i came up on too, but that picture is undeniably horrifying

I didn't really think any of the cartoons were GOOD per se, like everything when I was a kid, I just watched it because it was on. I generally found it annoying, altho I'll admit I had a crush on Dave in both series.

No, that was just the plot of every '80s movie. That really was Chipmunks' Great Adventure. I think maybe the Tom & Jerry movie was about diamond smugglers, too.
