And at that age, no way this was any kind of parent-sponsored viewing. So it also had that taste of the illicit. I think "Revenge of the Nerds" may have been a gateway drug. First I'm looking at naked ladies, then I'm smoking pot in high school, then dropping acid in college... next thing you know, I'm 32 and ridin' the brown, sweet pony called bourbon. And it's all because of the Nerds.

Porky's is so gross. It's the kind of nastiness that "Nerds" tried to make at least palatable. Like, in the wake of "Animal House," people just went fucking bananas, and Porky's is the WORST example.

The two greatest slob comedies of all time were Meatballs and Meatballs II.

This movie had a GREAT soundtrack. Some rapper out there should sample the beat that comes on right after Bernie Casey goes "Hold it coach! You just hold it right there." and all the black guys show up.

Also the "Panty Raid" sequence features the greatest version of the Mission Impossible theme ever.

Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise: Bradley Whitford! Courtney Thorne-Smith! The conversion of Ogre!

Whitford's progress from lowbrow comedy villain to actor-man has been awesome, and makes me imagine Aaron Sorkin sitting around watching Billy Madison and thinking "he's perfect" (an impression not really subverted by his having Ted McGinley as a senator at some point)

There was a major Fox remake - starring a bunch of anonymous TV youths -that had already started shooting and was shut down a week in, reportedly because Emory University pulled the plug on letting them use the school as a location. Though other sources says the studio saw the first week of shot footage and decided to cut their losses. Either way, thank goodness.
