reviving ancient threads: classick or irritating?

There's not much to do at work right now, y'see.

This could also be a old ILE vs new ILE: FITE!

I have entirely too much time on my hands

electric sound of jim, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So talk to me about Earth to Nigel, then. Who just sent me their new album, bless 'em.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Earth To Nigel. Sydney band. Quite rockin'. Weezer comparisons abound. Related (in the familial sense) to a member of Australian chart stars Spiderbait. A friend of mine goes out with one of them. I've got a 7" by them on Blackbean and Placenta which is neat in a rough and ready sort of way. I haven't heard the new record though - is it good?

electric sound of jim, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Now I will confess I've heard the first album already, as this proves. But I did want to hear from someone over there who knew them so I could get a different perspective. ;-) Not heard it yet, but I'll likely be giving it an ear shortly and can report.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 28 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
Hm.

the pinefox, Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Toot toot! is all I say!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Recycling is good for the board as well as for the environment.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it is nice, go Pinefox on your exhumations and reanimations.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

If these revivals aren't still going by the time Ewing et al finally return, I'm going to revive them all all over again. Just watch Hopkins get to grips with them.

the pinefox, Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I love reviving old threads, but they generally just end up with me having a conversation with myself, which is entertaining for a bit, and then becomes dull.

Matt (Matt), Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Neither classic nor irritating in of themselves, but moderation in all things.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, these are reminding me of the gentler days without all the balls-to-the-wall BS of late.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 24 April 2003 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to admit that I'm addicted to the random thread feature.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Friday, 25 April 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

it's kind of sadly charming that the pinefox still thinks the poster makeup of ile is exactly the same.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 April 2003 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

jesus, this was one of MY threads? i have no recollection of this at all. hm.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 25 April 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic, of course.

felicity (felicity), Friday, 25 April 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

classic

robin (robin), Friday, 25 April 2003 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

modern

buttch (Oops), Friday, 25 April 2003 03:45 (twenty-two years ago)

good in moderation (ha!)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 25 April 2003 03:47 (twenty-two years ago)

depends if you have anything to add

gareth (gareth), Friday, 25 April 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

..which the pinefox apparently did not.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 25 April 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I much prefer it when they are revived because someone has something new to say rather than because someone hopes someone else will have something new to say. If it wasn't someone I liked reviving like a reviving fool, I'd probably get exasperated.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 25 April 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The pinefox is like that certain type of teacher who sits on the edge of the desk, puts his/her head on one side and says 'no, I want to hear what YOU think' and then lets you all sweat for half an hour. It's no bad thing.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 25 April 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I never had one of those sort of a teachers.

: (

RJG (RJG), Friday, 25 April 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Its actually interesting which of the piefop's seemingly random revivals take root and flourish in today's ile mulch.

Ed (dali), Friday, 25 April 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, nothing the pinefox does is random.

Reviving threads is a good idea.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 25 April 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I've always been happy about thread revival. Lately though, there's been so much that I feel like I'm livin' in the past. I mean, I'm like this old lady and I can't keep up with the fast paced world of ILX.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 25 April 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

four months pass...
revival time. Some threads just never got the due consideration they deserved.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 11 September 2003 06:43 (twenty-two years ago)

woo hoo!

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 11 September 2003 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Reving ancient "reviving ancient threads" threads.... etc etc

I like it, its good to see who used to be about, and what they had to say.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 September 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Irritating, usually.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 11 September 2003 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark C is irritated by almost anything and is to be ignored.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 September 2003 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

*makes note*

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 11 September 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick, you should be posting on the "fancying people you hate" thread.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 11 September 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't fancy you!

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 September 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

For me, classic if the person reviving it does so with purpose, with something fresh to say, to give the thread new impetus. If it's just "I fancied reviving this" it rarely leads anywhere very interesting.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 11 September 2003 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Even then I don't mind, it's nice to see an old thread and re-read that instead of reading a boring new one (not to say all new threads are boring).

Nicolars (Nicole), Thursday, 11 September 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

the Are You Fancy thread needs to be revived.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 11 September 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

go revive it then

Ed (dali), Thursday, 11 September 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Reviving is good, coz we can see how we have grown and changed as people. < /fingers-in-mouth>

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 11 September 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Dom Passantino, Friday, 14 December 2007 11:15 (eighteen years ago)

Sometimes a bit creepy and obsessive of late.

Pashmina, Friday, 14 December 2007 11:24 (eighteen years ago)

tbh, that one guy and dom passantino are the only posters with half a clue here.

I'm gonna make you bend and break
(it sent you to me without wings)
Say a prayer, but let the good times roll
In case God doesn't show
(let the good times roll, let the good times roll)
And I want these words to make things right
But it's the wrongs that make the words come to life
Who does he think he is?
If that's the worst you've got, better put your fingers back to the keys

One night and one more time
Thanks for the memories
Even though they weren't so great
He tastes like you only sweeter

One night yeah and one more time
Thanks for the memories
Thanks for the memories
See he tastes like you only sweeter
Ohhhhhh

Been looking forward to the future
But my eyesight is going bad
In this crystal ball
It's always cloudy except for (except for)
When you look into the past (look into the past)
One night stand. (One night stand, off!)

One night and one more time
Thanks for the memories
Even though they weren't so great
He tastes like you only sweeter

One night yeah one more time
Thanks for the memories
Thanks for the memories
See, he tastes like you only sweeter
ohhhh

(They say) I only think in the form of crunching numbers
In hotel rooms, collecting page-six lovers
Get me out of my mind
Get you out of those clothes
I'm a line away
From getting you into the mood (wa-ooooohhh)

One night and one more time
Thanks for the memories
Even though they weren't so great
He tastes like you only sweeter

One night yeah one more time
Thanks for the memories
Thanks for the memories
See, he tastes like you only sweeter

One night and one more time (one more night, one more time)
Thanks for the memories
Even though they weren't so great (even though they weren't so great)
He tastes like you only sweeter

One night yeah one more time (one more night, one more time)
Thanks for the memories (for the memories)
Thanks for the memories (for the memories)
See, he tastes like you only sweeter
