"Heroin addicts are people just like everyone else (strange, but true). We often have families that we love. We have trouble explaining some things to them. Here is a cartoon that attempts to explain methadone treatment, and why we need it, to kids - especially kids who have addicted parents."

― dean ge, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:05 (seventeen years ago)
no.
― Stevie D, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:06 (seventeen years ago)
He should make a "because I said so" comic explaining to kids why they can't stay up past 9.
― dean ge, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
woah, is "up past 9" at all grammatically correct? How could the word "past" apply to the future? I must be talking retard talk.
― dean ge, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:11 (seventeen years ago)
Main Entry: 2past Function: preposition Date: 14th century
1 a: beyond the age for or of <past playing with dolls> b: after <half past two>
― Casuistry, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:12 (seventeen years ago)
"past" meaning "beyond"
― Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:14 (seventeen years ago)
thanks!
― dean ge, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:14 (seventeen years ago)
because it's "past" as in "on the other side of 9" which is only relative to the 9 o'clock independent of where in linear time that particular 9 o'clock is.
(Massively xposted while I tried to (1) get my head round the past 9 thing and (2) get my head round that weird-assed cartoon up top. How the hell does that explain anything?)

the methadone clinic "clients" on my daily bus ride are, in general, terribly depressing
― Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:40 (seventeen years ago)
also alternately effusive, friendly, rude, violent, and cranky. They are all almost uniformly filthy and stinky, however. that doesn't seem to change much.
― Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 21:41 (seventeen years ago)
there is one right across the street from me. I'm not in the 'hood, though... the clients are mostly hillbillies who commute from Knoxville for their take-homes. Every morning I guess. The line-up starts at about 5 a.m. and they are serviced and out your precious sight before you've had your first cuppa joe. They leave an awful mess, though.

Like Shakey Mo, I hate them and most everyone else, especially all white people.

Yesterday at work we had a huge problem, while writing some minutes, around the statement, "Only standing members sit at meetings ". It was technically right, but it really did our heads in and eventually we changed it.

Every chemists around here seems to dispense methadone n OJ to people. Its fairly discreet and never too much hassle though. And not all stinky angsty junkies either.

― Tracer Hand, Thursday, 2 August 2007 09:49 (seventeen years ago)
couple weeks ago, walking down 10th avenue in manhattan, on the sw corner of 57th street I suddenly found myself surrounded by a crowd of zombies and wraiths, flotsam and jetsam, just the most damaged ppl imaginable, milling around staring into space smoking cigarettes. one woman in a sleevless t and shorts looked like a human pin cushion w/ perforations all over her exposed flesh and then it dawned on me, they were methadonians congregating for their daily dose. sad, even tragic waste but it beats having to go out and cop dope every day. I guess.
