How has it worked for you? Are your shoulders sore from all the rubbing?

pointless in a post-facebook universe...

Actually really useful in a post-Facebook universe. Especially if you have a job that means you need to make lots of connections with people without them being able to see lots of photos of you drunk in various clubs.

I think it's great. Then again, I haven't had to use it to find a job just yet. Recruiters have been calling nonstop though.

My use has thus far been limited to adding folks to my contact list and connecting others. What's really surprising, though, is the "quality" of the people here. There's probably a better word. But a lot of very high up people at both my own company and at clients are on there and are now in my network. You'd never find these people on Facebook or Myspace.

So, for corporate folks, it's kind of fascinating and potentially pretty useful.

I see it being really useful in a few years if you need to track down a reference and they are already on their next job or something. It seems to understand that it's more of a professional service than a social thing.

seven months pass...

so I work a side job doing some contract work for another company, and added someone from there, and in the process added the contract position I work for there, and in the process announced to everyone I currently work with that I am now "web developer at xxxx"....OH NOES FELLED BY WEB2.0. shows me not to look at the privacy settings. I removed it but I'm still convinced I'm gonna get fired

i mean I probably won't but who fucking knows.

it's the sort of dumbass nubie mistake I would have ridiculed people about years ago before I realized how fucking hard it is to manage a million things in your life like two jobs, a baby, a band, paying your bills, and bullshitting on ILX
