How bizarre is that?

doom patrol, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, not that strange....see you on Sunday, Mark!

doom patrol, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah but NEXT sunday not this, right?

(haha DP posted the news here so if he mysteriously disappears the questing finger of the law points where it should...)

ooooh, is it good or bad luck if a little spider runs across your keyboard while you are typing?

anyway i'm excited and looking forward to it doomie

the spider was weird that's never happened before

mark s, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

anything involving spiders is good luck

duane, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

'cept if they're poisonous & they bite you

duane, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark - if you must know I am paranoid son of a bitch! Most writers are...(see my response to Anthony's thread above).

Did the spider bite you? Any sign of spidey strength yet?

Yeah, I'm looking forward to meeting you as well.

doomie, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it will be interesting to meet a struggling writer - i'm looking forward to digesting months of our history over starbucks coffee.

paul, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hey you said i could choose where! but starbucks is cool so yeah

the spider just scuttled between between my hands and off into some books

mark s, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Starbucks is the only decent coffee shop in England and I place I used to avoid but I only go there now because Naomi Klien says that I can't go there.

I'm in North London Mark....where are located?

PS. Marcello if you want to come along feel free - I still think you are a cool cat.

paul, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I usually write in the worker's cafe - I enjoy that, reasonable prices and o.k. coffee - not up to north american standards but I think my stomach is getting used to english coffee.

paul, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm in hackney paul, but that = not so good for coffee that's for sure

where's the worker's cafe? erm surely if we announce venue and date here then BOTH disappear mysteriously the finger will point at every mentalist on the interweb...

actually i need some coffee now, bye

mark s, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

true -

email me and we will sort out the details.

paul, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PauL SeZ:

Starbucks is the only decent coffee shop in England

And that, sir is an unsupportable statement.

Norman Phay, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Paul also sez:

"I only go (to Starbucks) now because Naomi Klein says that I can't go there".

Which rather reminds me of how Robin Page says that he has never gone foxhunting but will start if Tony Blair says he can't.

I suggest Tinderbox on Upper Street as a better alternative to Barstucks in terms of both coffee and the ambience. Also I like my cappuccino delivered in the form of coffee, not flavoured milk, and Tinderbox do WITHOUT a light dusting of cocoa powder as is The Italian Way. This place seems to run well with a good selection of mixed tapes too.

Doomie, have a cool time. Mark's the Buffy-lovin' BOMB.

suzy, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Starbucks is the only decent coffee shop in England

Norman - have you had North American coffee?

Well, I am going to be nationalistic since everyone in England does the same to me. Canada = best coffee at Tim Hortons. England = hot water with instant coffee. However the best coffee I have had was in Belgium but that is a given.

paul, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Doomie, try Tinderbox and *then* tell me whether Starfucks is better. I have actually been to both. The other good places are the Quiet Revolution cafés (one on Old Street, others in Aveda shops) and Bar Italia.

suzy, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I try to avoid old street - dunno why. Oh yes. I just left a really bad job there and saw someone get hit by a car after seeing saloon (reference poptones review: saloon). A quiet revolution cafe? Hmm. I just want something easy to get to - ie. my tastes are plebian!

paul, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also all these places are *cheaper* than the Creeping Seattle Menace (without wishing to go all No Logo it kind of sticks in my craw to see workers pouring out drinks that cost more for one than they make in an hour of serving them). My patrician tastes are, unfortunately, attached to a plebian wallet.

By the old Creation Records office in Hackney there was a cafe that did nescafe and hot milk with whipped cream on the top. These were known as crappucino. By the Primrose Hill offices (as was) there is a Polish patisserie that has the *best* cream cake and apple crumble ever and okay coffee, but not as good as those places mentioned upthread.

suzy, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Arrggghh.

You must keep this simple Suzy - I have been getting around town, yes, and sort of know where the old Creation offices were, been up to the new Creation offices a couple of times, but Primrose Hill is a bit of a maze, have not properly explored that area or London indeed.

Off to Ally Pally know to watch the sun.

paul, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark S will sip this "coffee" and then.......3 days later, he'll be rocking a big blonde wig on that strip, under full and brutal pimp control....."I was elucidating on musical things just a week ago!!! Now I've got tangerine flesh bruises under my skin.....I've got the dragon....it's mad cold out.....bung is deadly swole.....what am I doing out here.....it's okay, it's okay....doom patrol says once I break nuff times to buy him that Sonic Care toothbrush, I can go home....home....it's all good....yo its lovely"

Ramosi, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nah....I'm too busy with life and writing to bring mark s. into a J.T. Leroy story. Maybe if I wasnt that would be a good idea but I would have to bring Courtney Love (*phhhrrrooaawwhhhh* wottaalifeforce) into the movie.

paul, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i will do (or endure) whatever it takes for courtney to play me in the movie

ramosi i told you not to quote from my diary in public

mark s, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

believe it or not, courtney would probably play you in a movie if i wrote her an entertaining enough film script.

paul, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey couldn't you get an iBOOK and webcamera? Hook it up so we can all watch you guys? ;-)

helenfordsdale, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

eight weeks delivery remember, helen f!

mark s, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

and remember if i don't return alive that you had read it about here first...

eight week's delivery! ahahaha.

paul, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)
