No tidying up before you take the picture, either!

I like my alien backlighting

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to look at every picture in this thread and think, "Huh, so that's where so-and-so masturbates."

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 00:23 (eighteen years ago)

From the "your office: a picture thread" thread:

HA!

Ok, you're allowed to move the lotions and tissues out of the area before you take a picture.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 00:38 (eighteen years ago)

mods plz rename thread

jhøshea, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 00:39 (eighteen years ago)

Completely haphazard:

emil.y, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 00:47 (eighteen years ago)

This is why I like my backlighting... you can't even tell how much shit is on my desk. Maybe that's unfair. Maybe a flash photo of it is in order.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, yeah, if you've got a messy desk then you have to show it, mister. NO OBFUSCATION.

emil.y, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 00:55 (eighteen years ago)

ok, more honest:

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i191/fluxion23/desk_flash.jpg

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

That's something of an anti-climax. My description of that desk would be 'rather tidy'. C'mon, compare and contrast.

emil.y, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:08 (eighteen years ago)

that's about as messy as my desk gets. My real messes are well out of frame. My bedroom has two loads on laundry on its floor right now. Granted, they were dumped there at once, not thrown there over time, but still.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to suck at getting people to reveal their messes, aren't I?

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

wow so many desks! i do a lot of homecomputing on my bed

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

then it really is where you masturbate!

strgn, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

;D

strgn, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

I have a third computer next to my bed. Maybe I shouldn't have told you that, given the context.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:26 (eighteen years ago)

lol well it's not like if it's next to the bed, then...

i just find it more enjoyable to compute on my back.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

somehow that makes sense

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

best position

strgn, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

no no I need a chair. I can't do the laptop thing. I just put it on a table and pull up a chair. Or bed, as the case may be.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:00 (eighteen years ago)

what the hell is that thing??

speaking of masturbation/computing, here's a close-up of one of those prints above kenan's desk:

(not that i'm trying to imply anything, kenan :))

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:03 (eighteen years ago)

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that's a keeper

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:09 (eighteen years ago)

xpost No, you're right. That's it. :)

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:12 (eighteen years ago)

You can't imply anything, it's already on my WALL.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:13 (eighteen years ago)

Computing is split between MacBook Pro and desktop, but the desktop is more interesting than the couch:

libcrypt, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:14 (eighteen years ago)

what the hell is that thing??

Use your filthiest imagination.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:15 (eighteen years ago)

i meant that i wasn't trying to imply anything by linking "masturbation/computing" to your choice of work-area art :)

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:15 (eighteen years ago)

My real messes are well out of frame.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:16 (eighteen years ago)

Use your filthiest imagination.

But what's hilarious is that it's filled with old mail. Poor harness is languishing.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:17 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, it should probably go on the Completely Unremittingly Grim / Bleak "Art" thread.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:19 (eighteen years ago)

haha maybe so. But is it art?

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:22 (eighteen years ago)

"It's ugly, but is it art?"

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:22 (eighteen years ago)

age old question

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:23 (eighteen years ago)

strongo, I can't find the Onion story that pic goes with. plz help.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

btw, libcrypt, that's enviable. Fo sho.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:26 (eighteen years ago)

I am addicted to Mac. This is true.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 02:33 (eighteen years ago)

I feel balanced, in this way. Notice I have one of each.

jhøshea, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 03:10 (eighteen years ago)

I should get plants.

kenan, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 03:18 (eighteen years ago)

thats one of my biggest goals for the apt: plants

that room looks very refreshing

nice bringin the couch into the mix

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 03:28 (eighteen years ago)

you guys should get some plants theyre delightful - the one on the right is still thriving 2 years later, one on left ded.

jhøshea, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 03:28 (eighteen years ago)

Work desk. You can't see much of 'em, but there are vines all over the left side. I wouldn't mind that at home, but I can't keep non-succulents alive.

http://i16.tinypic.com/6b2sugx

libcrypt, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 03:31 (eighteen years ago)

There are three plants in that picture. There are a bunch more on a shelf behind me. None of them are mine. The room still needs more green. Bright green.

Kerm, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)

This might look odd, but this is indeed where I pootle - this is my coffee table, which I sit in front of with the laptop

I see Rails!

fields of salmon, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

R-r-r-rails?

libcrypt, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 04:06 (eighteen years ago)

such different takes. trayce is in deep meditation and libcrypt is in another galaxy.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 04:45 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks to this thread, I finally know what oink looks like.

StanM, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 06:45 (eighteen years ago)

so far jhøshea wins with his his well-lit mac-decorated loveliness; he has a nice, simple, tasteful room. And libcrypt wins with some sewn together photo that involves at least three parts, and is still staggeringly boring. He wins the PC award for being nice, neat, approved by my mother, eating of white-bread, etc. Whatever, I'm totally thrilled that he has two monitors.

dumb question: why two monitors?

also: many people like ikea, it seems

the sir weeze, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 13:53 (eighteen years ago)

Why two displays? Real estate, basically. I am greedy for pixels. When I have 5 zillion apps open and am transferring stuff between them, it's handy to have extra screen real estate.

Though you can't really tell in the photo, the laptop is sitting on this here coffee table, which I made in Winter 05 and remain pretty proud of.

The picture in the background was actually taken last year - different laptop, used to be slightly messier but nothing much else has changed.
