This is why I like my backlighting... you can't even tell how much shit is on my desk. Maybe that's unfair. Maybe a flash photo of it is in order.

That's something of an anti-climax. My description of that desk would be 'rather tidy'. C'mon, compare and contrast.

that's about as messy as my desk gets. My real messes are well out of frame. My bedroom has two loads on laundry on its floor right now. Granted, they were dumped there at once, not thrown there over time, but still.

I'm going to suck at getting people to reveal their messes, aren't I?

Thanks to this thread, I finally know what oink looks like.

so far jhøshea wins with his his well-lit mac-decorated loveliness; he has a nice, simple, tasteful room. And libcrypt wins with some sewn together photo that involves at least three parts, and is still staggeringly boring. He wins the PC award for being nice, neat, approved by my mother, eating of white-bread, etc. Whatever, I'm totally thrilled that he has two monitors.

Why two displays? Real estate, basically. I am greedy for pixels. When I have 5 zillion apps open and am transferring stuff between them, it's handy to have extra screen real estate.

Though you can't really tell in the photo, the laptop is sitting on this here coffee table, which I made in Winter 05 and remain pretty proud of.

The picture in the background was actually taken last year - different laptop, used to be slightly messier but nothing much else has changed.
