I am thinking about buying a serger & am torn between this old white 534 model and a newer brother 1034D model. both are in the $200 range. the white is mostly metal (a plus in my opintion) whereas i am assuming the brother is probably a lot of plastic. i have never sewn with one, so maybe i should go do some test runs or something. on the other hand, a number of reviews i read about the brother seem to indicate that it's a really easy-to-use serger and is one of the few machines one could feel comfortable buying online (aka amazon where it's $232 from a retail of $400). Any opinions on the matter? Advice?
