According to the article it was only one person dressed as a KKK man. To be honest, I could easily see this as a drunken joke instead of some sign of deep-rooted racism in the Australian army, but then again I do think the army and police often have lots of racists among their ranks, because they seem to attract that sort of people. People fascinated by physical authority and/or defending the nationalist ideal against scary Others often tend to have racist thoughts as well.

The only member of the Australian Army that I've ever known is a raving conservative lunatic who worships John Howard and hates Aboriginals, but I'm sure that's just a major coincidence.
