I just got a new pair of 520s yesterday.

I now own: an on-its-last-legs pair of 514s, these new 520s, and am considering the 501xx when my 514s fall apart.

Steve Shasta, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

its like fat on top, skinny on bottom. i liked it in the store yesterday but maybe i am not liking it today.

max, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

xp

max, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

max, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:39 (eighteen years ago)

freewheel, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

freewheel, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

its like fat on top, skinny on bottom. i liked it in the store yesterday but maybe i am not liking it today.

Finally, jeans for me!

Jordan, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

i would not describe those as "fat on top, skinny on bottom" tho the girl version (504s) probably fit completely differently than the dude versions.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 13 August 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

when i bought levi's i bought 501s.

does shrink to fit mean i have to buy 'em big??

river wolf, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

xp yah duh you have hips, lady.

river wolf, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:47 (eighteen years ago)

A slouchy, relaxed fit on top (FAT) tapers quickly into a skinny leg. (SKINNY)

tho i probably could have gotten them an inch or two smaller

max, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)

xxp yeah like an inch or two bigger on the waist and 3-4" bigger on the inseam

max, Monday, 13 August 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

wait the 504s are slouch STRAIGHT lol sorry

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 13 August 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)

no wonder i'm so confused

nooooooooooooo

Jordan, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)

I'm too cheap to shell out for Levis, but I got two pair of 501s for Christmas one year and they were the best fitting jeans I've ever had.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

I like 515s where they?

Ms Misery, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

I only buy levi's when they are on sale at kohl's or at the thrift store. I have a pair of 511's that I like.

I have 520s and they are comfy but a) not that skinny and b) really really low rise.

jessie monster, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

511

Jeff, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

514 even if EVERY PAIR SEEMS TO FIT COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY

you bastards

strongohulkington, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

i only wear wranglers and carhartts these days cuz they are cheap

river wolf, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

EVERY PAIR SEEMS TO FIT COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY

OTM

Jordan, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

the last time I was folding wranglers in my target days I noted how they are still cut like it's 1989. :D

jessie monster, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

i have noticed that with some of the women's jeans you get the every-pair-fits-different problem, it seems to depend on the wash.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 13 August 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)

Well my jeans they are a frayin'
And don't talk Levi's because I've tried.
My hips they had no room to play in,
and my little bum felt all trapped inside.
There's Levis all around,
If there was Wranglers I would know.
I'd turn the whole store upside down,
and they don't got Wranglers so let's go,
I said my jeans they are a frayin',
I said my jeans they are a frayin' very bad.

Why not Levis?

Cause they never seem to fit me,
No matter what the size.

Why not Levis?

Well the bum never fits, nor the hips nor the thighs.
I said my jeans they are a frayin',
Oh my jeans they are a frayin' real bad.

This store's got Wranglers in 'em,
Even got size 31,
28 bucks- now wait a minute,
But these jeans they're almost done.
My jeans are nearly rags,
My jeans are almost dead,
And they've lost their little Wrangler tag,
And you can see my knees right through the threads.
I said my jeans oh they're a frayin',
Oh my jeans they are a frayin', real bad.

mizzell, Monday, 13 August 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

EVERY PAIR SEEMS TO FIT COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY

Totally OTM, I have two pairs with one waist size and then a third pair that is a full waist size up.

n/a, Monday, 13 August 2007 18:03 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think I've worn Levi's since high school, but if I did, I'd probably wear 527s.

gabbneb, Monday, 13 August 2007 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

the black 514's are a different denim ... pretty sure

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 13 August 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

My blue 514s and black 514s seem to be stretchy, possibly elasticated? But then I just bought dark gray ones, which are the ones I had to go up a size for, and they don't seem stretchy.

n/a, Monday, 13 August 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

511s have some spandax, i don't kow about 514s

mizzell, Monday, 13 August 2007 18:44 (eighteen years ago)

yeah some of my 514s seem to be stretchy and others fit like "regular" jeans

strongohulkington, Monday, 13 August 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

I LOOOVE the stretchy 514's

527, holla.

Ivan, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 03:29 (eighteen years ago)

who wear levis this days anyways

Zeno, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 03:40 (eighteen years ago)

everyone wears levis ever since the skinny fit became popular (post-strokes America).

I prefer the 506 blue tag (Ball Crusher fit). the crotch digs right up underneath your junk, grasps onto it nice and tight, and pushes out right in the open for all the grandmas to see.

uhrrrrrrr10, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

had a pair of 511s for a few weeks. pretty good!

haitch, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:07 (eighteen years ago)

I miss the 529 (Low Rise Straight). Once saw Low Rise Flares for men about a year ago but apparently the world just wasn't ready for them.

I really want to try shrink-to-fit jeans but I'm afraid I'll shrink them wrong. Does wearing them in the bathtub Quadrophenia-style really work?

naus, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:10 (eighteen years ago)

527s are low rise flares, but they are only barely flared, and only barely low rise. they are what I wear though. the frustrating thing about levis is that they change their finishes every six months and I inevitably can't find the pair I liked a year previous

akm, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:18 (eighteen years ago)

These weren't boot cut, they were full-on flares! They had 'em at Sears! I tried a pair on but didn't buy them because they would have dragged too much. Agree with you on the finish thing. I usually end up buying three pairs at a time.

naus, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 05:34 (eighteen years ago)

id answer, but i dont have any vacation time left that i can use to spend all day trying on 34989 kinds of pants

the sir weeze, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 05:35 (eighteen years ago)

naus i think i am going to buy a pair of the 501xx and try wearing em in. ill let you know.

max, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 05:36 (eighteen years ago)

Loose Straight. I'm boring.

Sometimes I wear bootcuts, but for the most part it's my trusty 569s...

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 06:24 (eighteen years ago)

I don't wear Levi's that much, though. I find that their stuff doesn't last very long... Diesel's and Calvin's are where it's at.

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

But 569s are definitely great for lounging around the house in, like I'm doing right now.

ILX System, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

501xx = probably the only ones long enough for me ^_^

sleep, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 23:42 (eighteen years ago)

just a little FYI w/r/t a bit of confusion since the term "501 (original)" and "501XX" as 501 (original) seems to refer to preshrunk jeans (about 40 years old) and 501XX is the original rigid Shrink To Fit denim jean (about 130 years old).

XX refers to unwashed denim which shrinks up in contact with water/heat.

the way the yoke (horizontal grain of denim around back hips) joins with the seat (vertical grain of denim from yoke down the legs) during the shrinking process IS AFAIAC thee quintessential 501 fit. denim fans who have never worn shrink to fit will probably freak out the first time they wear XX jeans as it's a far superior fit and typically utilizes the best construction and denim in that price range.
