How do you drink tequila?

I also drink it with generic sugar-free flavored "seltzer" water sold in MA grocery stores and get way drunker than I intended to get.

I have never tried a non-marg mixed drink that involved tequila, unless LIITea has it.

Margarita 'mix' shit is consistently gross. If I wanted to drink something that flavor I would order a Midori sour. Bitter & limey salt yum.

Most usually I drink it neat.

with a straw, straight out of the bottle. and a chaser of soy sauce.

I drink margs on the rocks with salted rim. as long as the lime juice is fresh and there's no 'mix' involved, the results are OK-to-delish. Applebee's has a good top-shelf margarita.

i found a pic of the Applebee's marg that I like, but it was a .bmp. So I posted that monstrosity instead.

I'm not saying that Applebee's Top Shelf is the best margarita ever, just way better than expected. Plus they give you like 6 extra ounces in the shaker, which is weird-slash-cool.

lol Texas Roadhouse! I was at one in New Bedford last week and all of the servers suddenly started line-dancing for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. I thought they'd slipped acid into my beer.

That place was fucking terrifying. How is sawdust and peanut shells all over the floor even remotely appealing? My friend's mother took us there for a "nice supper," and I was having a very hard time not LMAO at the kid's menu item: "Li'l Dillo." Guess what I thought that looked like.

I used to work at Texas Roadhouse (where we didn't have to dance, thank god). I quit showing up after they made me work a New Year's Eve shift when I had the flu - in between serving people FOOD, I'd go in the back and puke in the trash cans.

Shots are about it for me. I don't even care for the taste of good tequila, so the faster it's down, the better.

That is bad new bears do japan for reals.

Tequila never gives me a hangover...I discovered this after my 23rd birthday when I did like 17 shots of it and woke up all fine and dandy.

The smell gags me, so I don't drink it.

It and a bottle of Raynal brandy were in the boxes along with a large lot of old books I bought at an auction three years ago. I have no idea how old it is, but it has a Texas State Liquor Tax sticker with $1.10 on it. Don't know if that was the price of the whole bottle or just the amt. of state tax paid on it.

Does anybody know the brand, Gusano de Oro? Does liquor continue to improve after bottling? These bottles probably spent years getting hot in the summer and near freezing in the winter -- does that degrade the quality of the liquor?

Does liquor continue to improve after bottling?

Generally, no. If the lid is still sealed tight and the level in the bottle hasn't dropped much (from vaporizing in the heat), it should be pretty close to the same as when it was bottled. Gusana de oro means "gold worm" - that's considered lower quality than gusana de roja (red worm) mescal. Should be fine for drinking either way.

When I was still drinking tequila, it was either neat for better, smoother tequilas or shots/salt/lime followed by a water chaser. I pretty much quit after a shots contest with a co-worker on a project that ended in tears (his).

how can anyone drink this stuff straight? i mean, i'd puke if i even tried sipping it. definitely made for shots and nothing else.

and it's the lime that makes it bearable, not the salt.

In Vienna they served tequila shots with a slice of orange instead of the lime, first time I'd ever seen that. Pretty good though.

If you can't drink it straight you're either not buying the right brands or maybe you should think about switching to malibu or something with an umbrella in it.

Usually about two shots worth in a small glass with a couple of ice cubes.

I only once had a margarita (or was it tequila sunrise?) and I hated it. :-(

Tequila makes me want to die. That said, usually with salt and lime. Idk if that's called anything special.

I didn't realize that they put Tequila in Margaritas until this thread. If I'd known that I wouldn't even have had the occaisional Margarita every now and again. I remember a particularly hellacious hangover in the early 90's from sitting in the bar at the restaurant I worked in and drinking Tequila shots with a strikingly beautiful waitress there and it was the first time I'd ever drank Tequila and as I said the hangover was a mountainous tidal wave of hell and since then I have deliberately avoided anything to do with Tequila, and I will continue to do so. Thanks.
