Written and directed by Scott Frank. First-rate performances by Jeff Daniels, Matthew Goode, and a near-great one by young Joseph Gordon-Levitt as an accident survivor conned into participating in a bank robbery. The dialogue has a quiet, surprising, flaky wit (especially when it's said by Goode).

Saw this on Friday. Thought it was a standard thriller with strong acting. Needed more plot, I was expecting some kind of twist at the end but got none. Cartoony police deputy was out of place, but it was pretty awesome and unexpected when he managed to take down all but one of the bad guys on his own. I was generally underwhelmed.

I really didn't buy JGL as a hockey jock, but he and Jeff Daniels were fine; otherwise routine, even w/ brain-function therapy 'color.'

I really liked the first 3/4 of this movie but the ending was disappointingly pat.

I heart JGL though. Between this, Brick and Mysterious Skin he's easily 10x better than, say, Ryan Gosling.

I'm guessing they needed that gun on the poster to get some viewers (and I hesitate to say a movie SHOULDN'T have Isla Fisher in it), but a movie dropping the heist element and focusing on the JGL, Carla Gugino and Jeff Daniels half of the film would have been better.
