― river wolf, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)
Wodehouse, Keillor, Sedaris...
― Ray, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)
Not a funy or a book, but the BBC dramatisation of lord of the rings rocks.
Also get either hitchikers guide to the galaxy on tape or the radio series.
Where are you driving?
― Ed, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)
NO NOT KEILLOR
Sedaris OK
xp MT to MN, in one shot (is the plan). I've got the HHG radio series.
― river wolf, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)
my CD burner is broek, tho, so i've got to BUY something at the BOOKSTORE :(
Also I used to love the james Bond books red on tape when I was a kid and John Whyndham.
― Ed, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)
my friend just drove to NYC from MT and she suggested that, say, "Blood Meridian" would NOT be a good idea.
catch 22 is the only book i couldnt stop laughing out loud at on the plane even tho i tried
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:23 (eighteen years ago)

xxposts: Haven't heard the Hodgman, but I imagine that would also be cool.
― John Justen, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)
ooh, Catch-22! I haven't actually read it yet. Shockingly.
― river wolf, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)
I wanted to go via SD, maybe camp at Devil's Tower (as I have in the past), but I need to catch a flight on Friday morning, and purchase a suit on THurs. How late is Men's Warehouse open???

This is a brillant, funny, and altogether perfect book, soaked in research and then aired out on the open plains to evaporate the excess, leaving this modern masterpiece. It makes me want to get in a truck and drive straight out to North Dakota and look at the prairie.” —Garrison Keillor

guys i am hitting the road approx. 3 hours late!
― river wolf, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:37 (eighteen years ago)
i have had LOTS of coffee! And no breakfast! And I still don't know what I'm going to do with skis :-/
Nate's is a super old school suit store, the sort of place where they size you by looking at you, ask you what it's for, and then bring you suits until you like one. Then you buy it. Probably wouldn't be able to tailor it for you in a day though.
― John Justen, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)
:-/
well, for the wedding it isn't that big a deal

How I Paid for College: A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship and Musical Theater by Mark Acito
The guy who reads the audio version is pretty good.
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:42 (eighteen years ago)
You can make up 3 hours, man. Doesn't everybody get started 3 hours late anyway? Be sure to stop before you feel seasick, though.
Mark Twain has worked for me in the past. The classics are not to be underestimated as sources of entertainment on road trips.
― kingkongvsgodzilla, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:42 (eighteen years ago)
(Also, good luck with med school interviews. If my ex can get in, trust me, so can you!)
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)
(thanks. i did good on MCAT, so I think my chances---at least at the U---are pretty solid)

(xpost - Excellent. That's where my ex is. He just started a couple of weeks ago. You should be in the class after him!)
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)
xp i'm mostly irritated about the running late thing because, as far as I'm concerned, the hours before noon are FREE DRIVING TIME. like, if you knock down 6 hours before lunch, it's like you haven't driven at all. in the same way, hours after dinner are worth 3-midday hours apiece)
xp CD burner is broek
